the game offers an open world with a lot of items to trade and adventures and quest to have (i am pretty sure that they are there) then it puts between that and you as much as unfairness and frustration as it can because the entire world is against you you try to move from A to B and are assaulted constantly, I have been attacked after having dodge one spanish and one british fleet to end being attacked by pirates.... (and i was using the start game option fewer encounters, that has to be a joke....) the naval combat, it starts with your ship stopped and the enemy ship going 2x your speed, and there is no way to flee, only option is to start boarding ships. no mechanic to easily flee makes the game slow and breaks your fun And the moment that boarding starts, you are on your own, my record is 1 versus 8 in a battle 4 hours after having started the game. uninstalling it (only good thing is that discounted is affordable and at least now i know that i should not buy similar games of the series) with less enemy ships constantly attacking you and without all the entire caribbean sea attacking you it could have been fun

После установки русского exe-ника игра не запускается, с английским же все хорошо работает. Не знаю в чем проблема, ошибок никаких нет. Пришлось ставить на английскую версию

Я играл только в Корсары 2: Пираты Карибского моря в детстве, остались приятные воспоминания. Здесь уже все выбесило до того, как я до моря успел добраться! Естественно, нет никакого туториала, отвратительный UI, ужасное управление и т.д. Но квесты это что-то с чем-то. Ты доктор-раб на плантации, надо вылечить жену губернатора. Еле вышел с этой плантации ночью, настолько дерьмово сделана карта. Потом, чтобы сбежать в море надо завербовать троих моряков тоже рабов. NPC тут ничем особым не выделяются, просто подходишь к каждому и спрашиваешь, кто он. Один просит убить человека, который сдал его в рабство и спит с его женой. Как будто это моя проблема, я вообще-то доктор! Второго продают на другой остров, надо как-то этому помешать. Третий хрен знает где. Надо найти оружие еще. Все здания выглядят одинаково, мини-карты нет. Хватит тратить мое время! Я хочу бораздить моря, океаны, брать на абордаж, быть пиратом, тысяча чертей! Кстати, запускается только в 1024х768. В Корсарах 2 ты в море уже через 10 минут! Все положительные отзывы написаны старыми фанатами, которые играли в это в 2009 малолетними долбо... детьми. В 2022 играть в это смысла нет. Корсары: Город потерянных кораблей не уважает мое время, я не уважаю их.

I tried the original Sea Dogs game a while back and just couldn't get into it. The UI was atrocious, your character felt like they were floating around when on land, controls were bad, menus and information presentation was terrible, and the only thing vaguely decent was the naval battles. Having spotted this game on sale here, I thought why not give it a whirl. Given the original Sea Dogs came out in 2000 and there was another in 2006, plus a Pirates of the Caribbean adaption in the meantime, you would think a 2009 release of City of Abandoned Ships would be vastly superior, after almost a decade for the developer to make significant improvements. Wrong... It looks slightly better graphically, but other than that, it's just as terrible as the first game in about every respect, and even worse in some. Frustrated with the vanilla game, I spent countless hours trawling through forums for some of the mods mentioned by fellow GOG reviewers, and although they make some improvements, they're nothing more than lipstick on a pig because the core game itself is just so bad. This only gets one star out of five because, A) Using a combination of sale price and wallet funds it only cost me €0.59 and, B) I can't give zero stars via the rating system here. I genuinely believe that unless you have a masochistic desire to punish yourself with the 'experience' of such a poorly made game, it's best to avoid it entirely. Seriously, stick to Sid Meier's Pirates! instead if you've already got it, and if you haven't, buy it instead of any Sea Dogs game.
