want to like-

but refunded. this one needs more time in the oven, imo. I love Legend of Keepers and Sandwalkers has all the same bells and whistles. lovely hand drawn art, lush sound design and the eco-lore is interesting... but the gameplay here is much more grindy and kind of unsatisfying. in 4 runs I managed to complete 2 quests and then had my parties immediately wiped out by higher level enemies. maybe I'm just playing it wrong? I dunno. but it's not scratching the casual tactics itch for me, esp. for the asking price.

I don't want to restart again

It's probably my own fault that i didn't realized this game is about dying a lot. I played the demo a long ago and i waited this game so much because i love turn-based games and pixel art and exploration games and a nicely built world. But i just can't accept to see my guys die again when i do everything to keep them alive. I just don't understand why were those monsters so strong when the text said they're not. Like the game doesn't even want to be fair. Never mind. I'd love to see a not dying story mode of this. And yes, i know my pc is crap but similar games run neatly on it, and this one is so slow sometimes (level ups for example) and i already play it with really low quality. I'm not an expert on the topic, it's just an observation.

Discover a pretty world and die...again

I have been playing this game casually since earliest access and even though I generally don't like games in which you constantly die and start over, the beauty of the world created in this game keeps me wanting to explore more. I am on my 32nd* caravan and I keep on coming back to this little gem because it has been made with so much love that I even read the lore. (* don't judge me, a lot of them perished swiftly in the brutal wastelands of the early versions :) ) It can be grindy at times, optimization is a bit dodgy and you gotta be ready to die, but its beauty and potential for replays make this game well worth its price for me. Much love and respect to the devs, this one turned out great imo.

Nice setting, creative species, some bug

I just finished the last portion of Sandwalkers, after a total playtime of around 25 hours (21st Caravan, v2.2.3). This game features nice graphics, a creative settings with innovative races and a decent story to keep me interested (with some critical hints to be drawn regarding the long-term consequences of short-term profitable behavior which I think could be well applied to the world we live in. That's my interpretation!). Last but not least, the game boasts a slick soundtrack (I love the track Alkaloid of the soundtrack, check out the bandcamp of tzerofive who made the soundtrack). Playing it in just a few (but longer) sessions, I noticed the combat becoming somewhat repetitive, because the number of different enemy types is not all that big. Some quests can tend towards a bit of a walking simulator (looking at you, princess!), a tendency that becomes more noticeable toward the end of the game. However, there is a mitigating mechanic. Finally, the version I played had some bugs, most annoyingly, the music would sometime get out of sync. I do recommend the game mostly to casual gamers looking for a game featuring a story that's engaging yet not too heavy, combat and resource management that can be tough at times but stays within the "forgiving" range, and an expected playtime somewhere between 15 and 35 hours (my estimate). I also recommend it to those of you who liked the look and feel of Legend of Keepers, their previous -- and equally recommendable -- game. Overall, you can clearly see this is a labor of love, and I am looking forward to see what Goblinz will bring to the table next time. TL;DR version I liked: atmosphere; soundtrack; story-action ratio; creativity regarding setting, story and playable characters I disliked: combat becomes repetitive after a while; some quests have walking simulator vibes; some bugs Recommended? Definitely, mostly for casual gamers.
