Stick to the original.
This is aimed mainly at people who already own the original game and are only interested in what the remaster offers on top of that. If you're a new player I strongly suggest looking for another game because this one is absolutely NOT worth 40 EUR whether it's remastered or not. It's one of those mid-2000's games that hasn't aged well at all and the remaster does very little to address that. THE GOOD: - They re-made all the vehicle models from scratch and this was easily the original game's weakest point when it came to visuals. - They also remastered the weapon models and this is one aspect of the visuals they managed to pull off without a fault. The weapons look amazing, they're nice and chunky, the metal looks like metal, etc. THE BAD: - Performance takes a massive hit and the game doesn't look nearly good enough to run worse than GTA5. - The MSAA was replaced with TAA which makes everything look smeared as you'd expect. They did add a sharpening feature that somewhat compensates for this but it's way too subtle to make a big difference. - The water looks notably worse than in the original, - The audio is just as broken and horrible as it was in the original game and this is the one aspect of the original game that needed attention the most. - The volumetric lighting is overpowering, fogs up the city and makes the colors look bleached, especially on clothing and hair. If your character previously wore black or white you'll be surprised to find out that neither of those are an option anymore, only greys. Likewise if your character was previously African then you've just been downgraded to Indian. This isn't social commentary it's just how bad the lighting is. - The facial hair is still just a painted on texture and it looks even worse now because of the aforementioned lighting. - They removed some clothing itens: the TF2 masks, the demo items as well as a few other items that were apparently removed to avoid controversy.controversial.
