hidden classic

This is my all-time favorite open world game. From the setting, to the music, to the controls, The Saboteur is as good as it gets. I love how the world starts with subdued colors and gradually gains vivid, beautiful colors as you progress. I really can't think of any flaws that should deter you from buying this one if you like this style of game. It's not silly like Saints Row, or GTA, but it's one of the most fun games in existance.

Fantastic game with great art design

One of the best atmospheres in games I've ever experienced. The black and white coloured Paris with only a few accents is gorgeous to look at (even though the game didn't age perfectly). The story itself isn't that spectacular I think, some story-lines remain unfinished. However, the overall experience is great, shooting is fun, driving around as well. When I saw it on GOG, I really hoped for the soundtrack to be included, it is absolutely amazing and a real benefit to the atmosphere in the game (even without playing it is great to listen to). Unfortunately, only the manual is a "goody" here - more would be great ;-)

Unique but average

The concept of a free-roam game set in occupied WW2 Paris is really awesome, sadly Pandemic didn't quite hit the mark with this game. The noir-ish black and white graphics paired with jazzy radio tracks really hammer in the atmosphere but lose much of their charm when you realize that most of the game world looks the same. Outside of the French countryside, which is all but forgotten beyond the first couple hours, the stone paved streets and building facades of Paris quickly blend together. Aside from the excessive amount of Nazi banners, soldiers and the rare firing squad, Paris just doesn’t seem that oppressed. Parisians wander mindlessly along the sidewalks and.. not much else. The world is lifeless, even in “liberated areas,” few changes besides a return of color and reduced Nazi presence. Some missions take you to striking new areas and more still are simply set in the middle of a random and uninteresting space in the game world. The objectives cycle through same three things which is eliminating a target, destroying something, or escorting a character. Most missions allow for some degree of stealth, but they almost always devolve into mindlessly shooting Nazi soldiers, simply because it’s quicker and more practical. The game’s disguise system is unique and it feels accomplishing to slip into a heavily guarded base undetected, yet the mechanics of this system are too shallow and require more patience than seems necessary. As the title suggests, you’re a saboteur. Accordingly, there are tons of “freeplay” targets scattered around the world which you can to destroy in exchange for ingame currency. This system sounds perfectly logical, but destroying these targets is rarely worth the risk or the effort. If the alarm is sounded, a red circle will center on the player. If and only if you escape this circle, you escape the Nazis. Every time an enemy spots you, the circle will recenter on Sean. Escape sounds simple in theory, but the absolutely absurd amount of Nazi checkpoints, patrol cars, wandering soldiers, and watchtower snipers often makes it seem impossible. Ironically, the game encourages you to destroy said targets in order to make escape easier, though avoiding sabotage completely seems much simpler

Great Open World game

I just have to say it never gets old killing the Nazi's operating an anti-aircraft gun and then getting in that gun and start popping Zeppelin's with it (Note this makes the Nazi's very mad!!!!) and causing mass chaos, and as the chaos increases, the Nazi's throw more and more at you until you got tanks coming you way. Sound familiar? If it does, you probably played Just Cause 2 or 3. This game was doing this mechanic before both of those hit the market! Yes, a popular way to get away is to climb... So yes, Just Cause without the grappling hook. I don't suggest jumping off either as you don't have the parachute as well. You got your standard steal a car from someone to get away and you can add cars to your stable, like a race car to do your race courses with... It is like this is the game Just Cause took all their ideas from. I don't fault them for it as it makes all of these games way fun, including this one! Runs fine on Proton Linux.

Beautiful Gaming Experience

Like an Irish mechanic Sean You will join to French resistance and fighting in streets of Paris and in outskirts of Paris, too; against Nazis and evil anthagonist Kurt Dieker. Paris under Nazis control is under black & white with only certain colors being visible, but after winning in some parts of the city You will see all in beautiful colours. Absolutelly stunning game similiar to Gta, Assaasins Creed - but all in WW2 theme. l guess it was last game by Pandemic Studios, but they leave a scene with a glorious and unforgottable game.
