RTCW
Simply, one of the best FPS games, ever. Bought it new back in 2001, and I still love to play it, in 2024. that's 23 years after it release. No more needed introduction for this one.

The Legend still holds true after years
I know I won't write anything that hasn't alrady been said about RtCW but still, I'll add my two cents. Despite those 17 years that passed the graphics engine still offers some fine visual effects. Try the flamethrower the Nazis use just to see how one can burn or how does it look (and feel) to be burning alive. The weapons offer noticeable differences between them so you do get the feeling of their firepower scale. Hell, there's also some humor in, too, thanks to some simple but funny dialogues. Well, and the missions offer a variety of goals, so it's not hust seek and destroy like in Doom or Unreal. Sometimes one has to be subtle and quiet or cover an allied unit or refrain from killing someone (an ally or an innocent woman). It's easily one of the finest classics and every one is invited to try it.

Great early 2000s FPS
This is the first Wolfenstein game I've played, so my approach to the game is merely from the perspective of a FPS fan. For a game that pits its protagonist against Nazis, whilst arming him with a wide range of weapons, the creators of the game lets you know that the game itself is bombastic - with zombies appearing early on in the game, and the Nazis themselves taking a variety of forms. Essentially we're dealing with Nazis and the occult. Gameplay wise, I found it initially quite hard to get into. This is due to the gameplay mechanics, whereby as things get harder, you'll find that you're having to reload save points frequently. Enemies can kill you very quickly, and for the player it's not apparent which weapon is the most effective to use. Some skills like being able to peek (an idea from Rainbow Six no doubt), served no real purpose. But the main meat of the game is the early 2000s style of FPS gameplay, which was very addictive. The design of the game typically mixes things up - so you might have to deal with snipers in one part, and enemies at closer distances in the main. Environments are gritty and war torn. Bosses were nicely placed, making defeating them challenging and very satisfying. The story is told through cutscenes, and in game documents. But in truth, these are inconsequential and can easily be skipped. The main crux of the game is the experience of the gameplay itself. As a first person shooter, it contains everything good about the early 2000s style of game, with nicely designed maps, challenging bosses, gritty environments, and a variety of cool weapons. Enjoyment comes when you past the threshold of those earlier levels, and you begin to understand what this game is all about.

Classic shooter
Great stuff, a classic shooter right at the turning point from arcade style shooters to the modern narrative focus. It has the fast paced movement and weapon variety of a boomer shooter but an abundance of hitscan enemies and low health that requires more careful gameplay. The end gets ridiculous with almost instant deaths and terrible instability leading to the game crashing after every death. Still well worth playing, especially through the early stages.

Just great
Just great FPS. Graphics are outstanding. It's more than 15 years after game launch and I still enjoy playing it. I also liked the plot. I would recommend this game to any fan of the Wolfenstein sery or to somebody with low-end pd (e.g. office laptop) seeking to play nice FPS.
