Great that they have released this and soon to be 2 and 3. But I don't know if it's just me but I feel like its still like trying to play the original version, where it plays abit too fast, compaired to Mediakite version. Still, nice to have in my library

I'm just gonna come out of the gate and say it, this port ain't it. I have been a huge fan of the RE series for most of my life, and despite owning these games multiple times over I HAD to add this to my collection as well. But it's got blatant issues. Some of these issues I'm pretty okay with. Freaking FMV's are at like 10FPS for example but it's whatever, it doesn't effect gameplay and I suppose that is AUTHENTIC to the original US PC release. Another one is that the prerendered backgrounds are not upscaled or improved in anyway. I'm not surprised by this at all personally, I didn't expect them to be but I do think it's worth a mention. However issues that are just plain unacceptable are the screwed up music. That crap had a lot of static sound and a weird layer of digitized sounding noise on top of every music track. Also the skipping animations. Looks so bizarre. For example Chris would be running forward and "teleport" a step ahead occasionally quite often. I have played many iterations of this title and have never once experienced either of these two obvious MAJOR issues. I think 1 star is probably a little too harsh, it's pretty far from unplayable admittedly, but it's a statement. I wanted to support this but it's simply a sub par product. I have been let down. I have requested a refund. What also surprises me is that SuzyTheSphereHunter seemed to endorse this port and I trusted her considering I love her content and she has a great passion for the franchise like me. Yet despite this, she never mentioned the obvious butchering of the music and weird character jutter/skipping in her video?? Maybe she wasn't allowed to say anything negative who knows. Don't buy this. Save your money until they fix it if they ever do.

I'm so happy about this release and I can't wait to play RE2 which is my fav. The only comment I have is WHY not the director's cut edition in RE1? I mean, we would have ARRANGE MODE which is very nice.

I never thought I'd live to see the day that the ORIGINAL Resident Evil game from 1997 would ever be seen sold again. Boy was I shocked! Very thankful from both GOG and Capcom for this. Genuinely thankful for this amazing preservation effort and keeping it in it's original state but fixing it up enough for it to run on modern PCs. I understand that this is the original 1997 game, but there's still a bit of work to do on this which I hope will get fixed with an update. There's some weird stuttering when controlling Jill or Barry and is very distracting.

Really GREAT to see these games come to PC via GOG and hopefully will come to Steam and other Storefronts in the future. These games deserve to be seen and played by new and returning players regardless of their platform. Overall the game runs good will no issues I've seen so far, BUT the controller support is strange to me. It says it supports Dualshock 4, but I could never get it to work. I tried my Xbox Elite controller and it too didn't work right away. I had to restart GOG Galaxy and connect the controller BEFORE relaunching the client for it to work. Now these issues maybe more exclusive to me, but they had me concern in the beginning. Eitherway, I'm now enjoying the first game and the nostalgia is so worth it for me. I wished it was the Directors Cut, but thats okay. There is some benefits to this being the PC version that been released as it opens the door for possible modding in the future. The character models are also GREAT and in my opinion superior when compared to the original console versions or even the slightly improved PS5 digital version. Thanks Capcom and GOG for the continued support of older games on modern hardware/digital storefronts! Now PLEASE add ALL of the Dino Crisis games and consider adding Achievements/Trophies support! I would definitely buy again for that alone.
