Interesting, bad, great music,historical
I am extremely conflicted over this game. It was released in May 2001 and with the exception of the engine and terrain destruction, this game has NOTHING going on that was not done leagues better by its competitors. It feels like a half life wanna be that doesn't know a thing that made half life good. Your red faction allies will die in one shot. Most are scripted to die so hard that if the door doesn't open from where they were meant to be shot at, they will just collapse. The terrain destruction is only fully implemente into the gameplay right at the start. Then it appears from time to time, reminding you of it. The submarine and fighter controls are AMAZING, which is expected when you remember that this was made by the creators of Descent. Then halfway through the game you find the one shot kill enemies and remember that, indeed, this was made by the same people who made Descent. The scripting is bad, the constant spawning of the enemies behind you is extremely annoying, sometimes the game WILL NOT give you a health pack. The pacing of the story?? Insane. For the price it is going at, I think it is a good deal, but don't go in expecting anything groundbreaking, pun intented. the glass destruction was honestly quite nice. Finally I must say that this game has an AMAZING soundtrack, some are alright, others are magnificent. And yet the game will play them at the weirdest moments or not let it have the time to fully get going. Sometimes I would cross a door and the music would suddenly stop, leading to a deep dissapointment.
