TL:DL: INSTANT CLASSIC

GoG allows only very short reviews which is BS...so I will keep it short. This is a very unique gem, has amazing amount of variety in monster, weapons, map design. Weapons upgrade system is full of meaningful choices not BS like borderlands had with gazzilion of weapons and 99,9% of them being garbage. Music also good, few tracks don't fit the game though. Atmosphere - when you first load up the skyscraper map - wow. Perk and stat system allowing you to further customize your character with magic on top. Multiple build available letting you replay the game over and over. Took me 5-6 hours to finish on first playthrough. Extremely well priced, paid 12USD,11EUR,10GBP - fantastic and you get OST for FREE! who does that for you these days with games like AC:O priced at 90GBP... Dev team interested in listening to the fan base and working on patches from day one. While we are on the dev, the guy behind it is 19 year old, can you imagine what he will brings us in the future? Support him! After the massive disappointment that Diablo 3 was I stopped buying pre-orders...only bought like DooM 2016, first 2 Tomb Raiders and some smaller things like Kingdom Rush games...this was an insta buy and will buy it on Steam the second its available to support the developer. Will buy this for friends too. Game receives excellent praise from big youtubers like ggmanlives and major publicists like Rock Paper Shotgun, Kotaku even John Romero approves! Stop reading this, go buy the game !!!

Everything I ever wanted and more.

I've followed this game's development since it first started, and so far it's better than I had ever anticipated. Awesome weapons and spells, sweet graphics, amazing music, and fun, challenging gameplay. It's like Wolfenstein meets Eye of the Beholder.

Retro FPS at it's Best

Project Warlock is a retro style shooter that is very reminiscent of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, but more so Wolf3D. So if you're not a fan of Wolf3D, you're probably not going to like this. It starts off as a struggle for ammunition but you're equiped with an axe, a throwing knife and a magical staff. Then you gradually add a pistol and shotgun to your arsenal and it continues to grow from there. Some of the RPG-esque features are the perk system, upgrading of weapons and purchase of spells. With the perk system, you put points towards health, mana, ammunition capacity etc. and then every 5 levels you can pick a perk. Some perks have no requirements, where as others require you to put a certain amount of points towards a particular group before the perk will unlock. The weapon upgrades are pretty straight forward. Each weapon has two different possiblities, and once you've made a selection, you can't change. I found myself upgrading, testing and then reloading from the checkpoint the game creates whenever you come back to the Hub. Some upgrades are pretty cool, while others just aren't that great. As for purchasing spells, you unlock new spells as you find spell books throughout the levels. Once you've found a spell book, you can then purchase that spell in the Hub. The weapon upgrades and spells use the same "currency", so you won't be able to acquire everything. The varying weapon upgrades alone convinced me to playthrough this a second time. The game is challenging and fun, and modernises the Wolf3D formula really well. IMO this is to Wolf3D as DUSK is to Quake. It takes a classic and improves upon it while holding onto that classic vibe. Would love to see more games like this!

I found it extremely compelling, to the point where I finished the entire campaign in about seven or eight hours. The arsenal's huge. The pure visceral feel of the weapons going off are some of the best in ANY twitch shooter I’ve recently played. The action is fast and frantic, and mistakes can cost you big time, but the challenge is generally fair. The game's sixty levels are compact switch and key hunts filled with bloody conflicts as you slap hellbeasts with buckshot. A leveling system and upgradeable weapons add a bit of modern flair to the oldschool shooting. A blood-pumping chiptune and metal soundtrack amps you up for the next gauntlet. The game's not perfect - there's a few sound effects that sound amateurish, and the game's overall very dark, making the light spell a necessity. This was addressed a bit in recent patches, however. The map can be a little hard to read, and some of the bosses are a huge difficulty spike. Still, despite a few minor complaints, Project Warlock is a bloody treat. Shooter fans should drop whatever they’re doing and play it. RIGHT. NOW.

A Fun little gem for your collection

Ive played the game for a couple of hours now and Im really enjoying my time with the game.the shooting is reall fun and i love how you can customize weeapons by leveling up and changing their properties. Ive been loving the variety of weapons i can shoot and customize. Id reccomend this game toanyone whos looking for a really fun shooter thats affordable
