Beautiful, but boring.

I pre-purchased the game, but waited until after I tried the full release to write this review. First of all, graphics are amazing. That and the obvious effort put in improving the game are the two reasons I am not giving it a single star. The leveling table is exactly the same for all characters. No individuality, except for the very basics. The game play is still slow (even after the devs put in the option to skip the terribly repetitive attacks animations; I did give them credit for listening to the community on this one). Also, the game play is just incredibly boring, as there are no real decisions to be made (if you are sticking to optimal game play I mean). And this is coming from somebody who loves tactical games. The story mode is simply... lacking? Seriously, the way the storytelling is implemented seems kind of rushed/lazy compared to how good the graphics are. Overall: good effort, amazing graphics, boring game play, lazy story telling, lazy level-up system. I kind of feel I am being too generous giving it 3 stars, to be honest. 2.5 would be more fair.

Sadly does not work on GOG

This game has carefully hand crafted art - the characters are beautiful or ugly and never in between. The music is great, the sound effects are striking... but the game does not play! You can play most of the tutorials (one is broken) and the game crashes when loading the first mission. The multiplayer does not work as you get a "failed to connect" message when you try to make an on-line account. It's sad, because it looks like A LOT of time went into making this game, just judging by the tutorial and survival missions.

Unable to play

I have tried following the "fixes" found on various forums along with following the GoG support options for crashes. The game will almost always start, so that is 1 star. After that the game has crashed immediately after I click the only option on the intro screen, "Start". The game crashed again. I eventually go through and in the options (located at the bottom right of the screen) I changed graphics settings then looked at characters, while reading a character description the game crashed. Restarted, got past the "start" option, changed graphics options to lowest and windowed. Started the tutorial and a crash occurs. I restart again, get to start the tutorial (the very first tutorial fight is not all that great and doesn't explain much really) and at the end of the fight, game crashes. I've done everything from changing resolutions, graphics settings, full screen, full screen windowed, windowed, going into the .exe properties compatibility mode and disabling full screen optimization, closing all other programs, and on and on. I was looking forward to this game for a while and finally went for it on sale. Currently not worth the lower price I've paid because it is unplayable, which is disappointing. I hate writing negative reviews, but I'd recommend avoiding unless you don't mind a gamble.

On big bug :(

This game crashes all the time. Even the tutorial is broken:( I cannot start single-player game because crashes on the first fight. Tried many things to fix it but I failed. Would not take this game even for free!

This could be a great game...could be

If you ever wanted to explain the term style over substance, this game would be perfect. It really looks great, all the attack animations, all the nice backgrounds. If the gameplay was half as good as the graphics, this would be my new favourite game. Too bad the fights are long, boring and tedious. In an attempt to have clever mechanics, we get an over complicated game that ironically leaves you with very little variety. Setting up anything takes far too long, up to that point you can beat your opponent to death just by using normal attacks and defense. It didn't help that I had to restart the game every 15 minutes because it crashed again.
