GOG version is not the best.

This game is great, but there is DRM still in the game. Best to get the game on a steep discount to see if the games DRM allows your computer to run it or not. GOG hasn't removed the DRM after several years of selling this game. The DRM checks your computer when you try to launch the Prince Of Persia game either from the exe file or from GOG Galaxy. The DRM looks for compatible hardware and if it thinks your hardware isn't compatible, it won't let you try to launch the game. It seems to work better on Intel computers. I wish this DRM didn't exist, but I'm happy I get to enjoy a great game for now. Maybe GOG will remove the remaining DRM in the future if possible or a mod will fix the game.

Lacklustre "gameplay improvements"

The general consensus is "Sands of Time with worse plot, worse tone & better gameplay". Unfortunately, I don't agree with the second half of that. Attacks can multi-hit (thank god) and sand extraction is gone. The thing is, I didn't mind sand extraction - its frustrations were a symptom of the REAL issue: the inability to select targets or control the Prince's movement orientation and this has NOT been fixed. Other changes are even more annoying: almost all enemies have massive lunges on their attacks so evading attacks through movement is barely possible. And, for all its faults, Sands of Time at least understood that its combat system is tailored for juggling groups. Warrior Within has a much bigger focus on terrible, repetitive 1v1 boss fights with huge healthbars. Outside of combat, the only notable change is an incredibly clunky free camera which gets stuck on everything and gets dragged by the movement keys. I honestly can't decide whether this or the old fixed camera is worse.

Not quite the same

This game decides to take the Prince of Persia series into a different path - more and better combat but less storyline. Graphic wise it's a bit improved over The Sands of Time. The music remains just as good as the tracks found in the previous games aswell. The combat is very fluid and the attack options are big in numbers, along with the possibility to use your surroundings as a weapon. Sadly though, the story is very bland and there's obviously less effort put into it that the previous entry in the series.

Worth playing. But can be skipped.

While this game strayed away from what makes Prince of Persia what it is, this is the most fun entry in the franchise and the most memorable one in my opinion. The story isn't its strong suit but this probably has the most interesting lore of the trilogy (considering there isn't much of that in the fist place aside from the dahaka). The combat is definitely what this game shines with. It is very fun, it is the most fluid feeling system compared to the other games in this franchise. And this change fits well with the different gothic tone and the change of music (which is probably what makes all of this so memorable). This is the reason why this game should be played for! I would say that this is a must play but I would much rather recommend you play the trilogy from start to finish instead. (hell, you could even skip this game in all honesty since this game's story can literally be summarized in a paragraph) Aside from that... Definitely worth playing!
