The Best Point n Click I've Played

As someone who has tried a lot of point n click games but found themselves relatively unimpressed or simply uninterested in the genre, I can say that Primordia in every sense is what has given me second thoughts on the genre. To say this game is 'genre-defining' isn't an overstatement, it feels like a huge breath of fresh air in terms of the formula of most games of its kind. What makes Primordia special is not only its fantastic and original narrative that kept me invested throughout the game, but primarily the way that a large amount of the puzzles in this game can be solved in multiple different ways, even when it may seem as if there is a single solution. It still has many of the restrictions of a regular point n click game, so don't expect to be able to complete puzzles or interact with characters with complete autonomy, but do expect to think about how you approach problems to change when you play this game. I could gush about this game all day, and there are certainly some negative aspects (such as the beautifully decayed environments sometimes hiding interactible objects since the mixes of browns, grays and blacks tend to blend together) but instead I'll just say that this game is worth your time if you consider yourself a fan of point n click games and something to consider if you find yourself lukewarm about the genre as I did before playing Primordia. It is beautiful, it is creative, it is a well polished and expertly written game that asks questions without a simple answer. Well worth $10.

Definition of an Hidden Gem.

I've played this game expecting nothing, and was quickly in awe. Ignore the mediocre reception from the AAA reviewers, this is the first adventure game since the DOS days to capture my imagination and attention, made by adventure gamers for adventure gamers. Pros: - Deep story in a rich universe that feels larger than what the player is actually exposed to. Game features some multiple paths and a few different endings. Some cool references and just a touch of fourth wall stuff. It is also worth mentioning that the game isn't afraid to raise the issue of religion, but lets the player think for himself about the meaning of it. - Complex, love-able and developing characters, if you like bromance - get this. If you like cynical post apocalyptic views - definitely get this. - Atmospheric music, and lots of it. In fact, this game has a surprisingly high soundtrack length to game length ratio. - Unique art style, abstract yet somehow detailed visuals. - Spot-on interface, the controls never disconnect the player from the game. The inventory never gets too crowded and every piece of important info is kept in an in-game journal. Transportation is done with a fast-travel system when needed and combining items is fast and intuitive. - Revolutionary puzzles, not too hard, not to easy, almost all new and most important of all - they make sense. I'm not a very good player and didn't feel I needed to use a walk-through at any point. - No "walking dead" scenarios, you can't die in this game nor can you get yourself stuck, as far as I know. - Brilliant voice acting, genuinely funny moments. Not "video game funny" but actual ha-ha funny. - Little to none pixel hunting, it is always clear which parts of the scene are interactive without the creator resorting to cheap tricks to highlight them. Kudos. ...Really, I can just go on and on. Buy this, buy this now. Cons: - Somewhat low resolution takes a while to get used to, especially when scaling the characters. - Most animations are basic, not for anyone who looks for the next gen look. - It isn't always clear when there is more than one solution to a problem, which may result in damaging the game's replay value. I recommend scanning through a walk-through after you are done. - No physical copy :) The cons are really minor and shouldn't bother true adventure gamers. This is an Indie game that is better than the sum of its parts: 10/10, for real. For the price they are asking you owe it to yourself.

Mechanical Dystopian Wonder

Usually I'm not the sort of person who enjoys point-and-click adventure games, but the setting and art style of this game grabbed me as soon as I saw it, and these did not disappoint. The gameplay itself is for the most part what you'd probably expect for a point-and-click, scavenge through the pixels for clickable items and iteracting with them as appropriate. However, due to the setting there are few times where the combinations of items seem unreasonably obscure, which I certainly regarded as a plus. There are also a couple of occasions where a logic puzzle would be sprung which I found to be well-constructed and a real joy to solve. Clever, but not so much as to be unapproachable as long as you take a logical approach. Further than this I can't give much comment as I relied on a walkthrough for the vast majority as I was personally far more interested in the writing and art. Atmosphere and character drip from every scene of this game helping to give a deep-seated sense of dystopia. The voice-acting is absolutely fantastic, both in delivery and direction, and combined with the design of the characters gives a immediate sense of their personality despite little in the way of movement or body language. The soundtrack also does a wonderful job of sucking you in, never becoming too obvious to be distracting, but giving your brain all the subtle cues it needs to set the mood. Also, bucking the unfortunate trend of many other games, the conclusion has clearly had thought and effort put into it and feels like a satisfying end to the experience. Final Thoughts: Whilst I may not have experienced the game in the exact way it was intended by using a walkthrough to guide me, this is still one of the best games I have played in recent memory. Every time I had to exit out was a struggle as I just wanted to keep going and find out what would happen next. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of a good story, dystopian and sci-fi themes, and is captivated by the artwork and the music.

It's alright

I think this is the second game of this genre I've played and the first I've actually completed, so my opinions aren't affected by nostalgia. My overall impression is that the game is fairly long, or at least difficult to complete, but the difficulty is a bit arbitrary at times, since the solutions for many of the problems aren't intuitive. Besides that the puzzles aren't too difficult in and of themselves, and none of them stands out as being particularly elegant and well designed compared to other puzzle games. The artwork is likewise "okay", maybe above average but nothing groundbreaking. The setting is neither interesting nor original. The story is bland and generic. This isn't a role-playing game and the number of meaningful choices is very limited, as is replayability. On the other hand, it seems that a lot of love and attention went into the making of this game, particularly with regards to the character dialogues (though that might be typical for this genre) and while they aren't particularly clever and entertaining, they do add life and flavor to the game. In fact I personally feel that the character dialogues are the best aspect of this game. I'd rate most aspects of the game as above-average, and as a whole the game is... solid. There's no major shortcoming, but I also didn't find the game to be particularly fun and engaging, though that's partly down to personal preference. Although the game isn't impressive in a technical sense, it does have its charm.

What a story

If you haven't played it, give it a try. It has a captivating story with a lot of something-built. In a world that is descended from men but where men is long gone. Good graphics and multiple final choices. If any critiques, is that it is a bit short and you only play one character. The graphics are great.
