Scratches the Settlers itch, so far..
Even though I only played a couple of hours of the demo it seemed like it covered a lot of the basic functions. There are some minor spelling/typo issues in the tooltips, but you get the idea with what the aim of the function is intended for. If you like original Settlers 1 then this could be for you.. You can scan the geography for minerals distributions without needing geologists, and a lot of the surface minerals can be exploited by basic tool-less workers. Workers are needed to build, clear surface trees for building plots/roads, they also clear surface minerals akin to mining but without the need for tools. Tools are instead a more generic commodity/resource (instead of being split up into hammers/tongs/axes/fishing rods/etc) so there's no micromanagement of which tools are produced as they are akin to stones or logs or iron or coal etc. The workers will eventually slow to a crawl the bigger the distances between places they need to be, so building road signs speeds them up, but you reach a catch-22 situation quite quickly if not carefully managed, and you'll find key resources are needed to be gathered in a more targeted fasion and you can pause or prioritise or demolish any building plot projects that need to be. You can even customise how much resources are refunded during a demolision when setting the game rules. The main gripe I have so far is there doesn't appear to be an easy way to locate a particular building that's in your "stock of buildings" or "inventory" or similar, so you have to methodically click on each building until you identify the correct one. Also another gripe is there is no way to remind you to come back to a certain area or building etc to continue with a planned task. The minimap appears quite basic, and has no zoom for the minimap but the main map can be zoomed although the angle of viewing is tied to the zoom - which is not ideal for me personally as I like to have a slight angle for better perspective even at max zoom out.
