Nice concept, but has some flaws. Tutorial is kind of useless and you have to learn it on your own. Text is too small and thus hard to read. Early space battles takes too long to kill a single ship. Using mouse for space battles is kind of weird, but if you use joystick controls they are too sensitive, even with its in-game sensitivity sliders.
Maybe its cool when it was first released, but if you plan to play this today, there are plenty of other open world exploration games out there.
Politics aside, and it should be here, I agree with the compliments not complaints, regarding this game in the series: Parkan II compares to Freelancer, the X-series and others I love; even better that it is an adult pilot, not a cadet. lol. I had no idea,.. and I did see this for retail back in the day, but never played until I bought it here -- well, actually after a bit of try before I buy, from another site where I subscribe occasionally. lol... Some YouTube vids first sold me, as the graphics reminded me so much of 'Unreal 2': I do not know what the engine is, but is one of the best looking games of the time for immersion.
For play, like some Others mentioned, it's a 'great' space sim! Especially for any who may like a cross of Freelancer and 'X', it plays like those; and I had no hitch on Windows 10. There IS one weird resolution issue addressed at pcgamingwiki, to set this from the start application in the root directory, and works fine; but the game started right up before this at it's default 800x600 resolution... And my mouse had no issues; the game runs so smooth it puts some newer ones to shame.
Finally, I give it four stars only because I just began playing, or I would give it five; but I already beat 3 pirates, landed on a planet and am having FUN: Another reviewer I read somewhere said this is also an easier simulator to learn and control for beginners; I am not a beginner, but 'I' like them easy to control too. Lol. It also reminds me of good things like this about No Man's Sky someone may have mentioned here: If this all sounds like something You are looking for, GET THIS GAME!
When i played this game at the release it had many many bugs. I hope GOG have ironed out this bugs.
You can steal ships, you can make productions facilities, fight in space and ground and much more.
For it's time the graphics were amazing.
If you like space sims with space mechanics this is a good game.
Казалось бы, прошло столько лет после релиза, можно было исправить хотя бы основные ошибки игры - но нет, как была глючным дер*мом 15 лет назад, так и осталась. Игра умудряется тормозить и зависать уже через пару часов активной игры даже на современных компьютерах с кучей гигабайт озу. Решившим купит ЭТО - готовьтесь к постоянным вылетам игры без всяких причин каждые 10-20 минут.
I played this game when it was first released. In fact it was the first ever licensed legitimate copy of a game i bought in my life. That was due to a huge article in a game magazine praising the game as a masterpiece.
It was all lies. The article was payed for by the publisher. This game has nothing to it. Even the description is lying about the "world simulation".
What you will se is an empty world filled with 6 types of npc and the same amount of ships. Each type in their own sector of space. You will repeat the same 5-6 generated missions like "kill ships there", kill every enemy on that planet. Planets are nasically and empty field with one room building in it and a bunch of enemy mobs.
The story is non-existent. Literally it doesnt have it. They took the story from the first game (which was pretty good actually) and said main character got teleported to the past events. BAM! Heres your story. Nothing will ever happen till the very end.
Stay away from this.
