Very enjoyable different kind of game

I had been thinking of buying this game for quite a while, but there were so many bad reviews that I shied away from it. Now I did buy it and am delighted! It's a different kind of game - there is not so much action, not much freedom in what you can do. A lot of reading is involved and, as others mentioned, it's a bit more like an interactive story. One starts investigating a bombing, there is a suspect and through the system "Orwell" one can access all kinds of online information, listen to phone calls, read chats and search desktops. Most of these sourced contain so-called datachunks that need to be added to the profiles of people who are investigated. One starts with the basically empty profile of the first suspect and from there on, the scope continued to expand. Some datachunks open up new sources or suspects, other complete the picture, still others are not relevant. One review stated that it is impossible to decide which datachunks are useful - I disagree with this. Yes, sometimes it's not sure and there is a learning curve involved, but with an eye on the objectives, it is absolutely possible to weed out useful datachunks. I found this learning curve enjoyable because I could gradually understand the system more and developed an eye for what was relevant. The sources are delightfully varied and created with painstaking eye on detail. The different characters have their own voice, every website, social media timeline, photo gallery contains a lot of info that might not be relevant, but makes these sources seem so real. Little typos are built into chats when people are excited, even the !1 is used once to show how upset someone is. I was impressed by the work that went into creating this virtual world. As the story unfolds, one learns more and more details about everybody. It's a fun journey and I was immersed into it. There is quite a lot of room for thought about the topics involved. Fun game on many levels!

A wounderful and thrilling experince

This "game" is more like a moving book with choices to change the story's outcome. It has fun twist and turns at every corner and then some, very enjoyable and executes them well. Orwell may not be for everyone (especially if you hate reading) but I encourage anyone and everyone to at least try it out. You may find Orwell to be a very fulfilling and exhilarating experience.

Очень хорошо

Игра достаточно короткая, в целом заключающаяся в непрерывном чтении. Сюжет интересный, с приличествующими жанру поворотами. Игра достаточно быстро заставляет задаваться вопросом: "А на той ли стороне я воюю?". И даже к концу вопрос в моем персональном случае остался. И это просто потрясающе. Если сравнивать с писателем, чьей фамилией названа игра, то в его 1984 вопроса не было. Большой брат плохо, точка! Здесь же сюжет и твои действия заставляют раскачивать маятник мнений, задаваться вопросом, где именно должна проходить грань между неприкосновенностью личной жизни и безопасностью. Коротко о геймплее. на экране находится Orwell OS, этакий браузер для онлайн-дознавателя. Вы открываете разные ссылки, читаете переписки, выбираете подсвеченный текст и переносите его в соответствующие досье (если посчитаете эту информацию нужной). Коротко о сюжете: В центре Бонтона, расположенного в стране Нация (вот так странно, да), происходит теракт. Единственный, за кого цепляются уличные камеры, девушка с синими волосами, недавно уже засветившаяся в полиции. А как сюжет пойдет дальше - рекомендую узнать вам самим. Итог: Отличная игра, которую я неспешно прошел за один вечер, правда только на одну концовку (собирать их все не мой жизненный путь). За 250 рублей я максимально доволен. Рекомендую

Needs a large dollop of something

Aesethic: great. Idea: creepy. Gameplay: ah, well, we've found a large banquet with only a few crumbs that are tedious to follow with not much else to do or eat. If you've never spent any time in your professional or personal life as a paper-pusher (or modern equivalent, data shovelller) then this game will educate you on how anodyne and beige such an endevaour is. I can understand why doing menial work all day long results in marriage breakdowns, mid-life crises, nervous breakdowns and other such ills that befall the poor sods whose role is merely that of conduit with nothing really touching the sides of your soul regardless of what horrors are being transferred. Shame really because to invoke Orwell sets the bar high but as anyone who has read anything the man wrote knows he was the very opposite of the tedium and unambitious gameplay found here.

Interesting game with a decent story

Orwell is a very interesting game. Very much leaves the Papers Please vibes once you go through the whole game. Both of these games are seemingly mechanics orientated but the core of the game is actually getting to go pass the wall of "doing my seemingly little part" of a system and seeing how the system is fundamentally flawed. Don't expect the same level of execution and investment as you got from Papers Please (where its literally your family's survival that's constantly on the line), but do enjoy, it's a nice little game. Overall score, 7 bananas out of a coconut. Be aware: The game attempts to be deep and incite THOUGHT!
