I'd like to try this game...
but the application crashes after the loadscreen. Apparently, the game doesn't work with AMD cards because AMD sucks and refuses to properly support OpenGL. I would have appreciated a warning from GOG in the description before purchasing a game I can't run. http://www.giantbomb.com/oddworld-strangers-wrath/61-21431/news/

Perfection save for one flaw
This is one of those shooters you never forget. Whether it's the stupid and easily trolled local populace or the implied prison rape among wanted criminals, Stranger's Wrath will keep you amused with it's sense of humor. The story is quite the tale with an extremely clever twist that only solidifies your respect for the protagonist. This game is one that should be played by any and all First-Person Shooter enthusiasts. However, on more modern computers the game falls victim to technical problems. On my computer, my frame-rate slowed down so low I literally could not play. Though I do not know my specs, I know for a fact that this is the only game i play in which such a problem is present. So, to any and all considering this games purchase, keep in mind it may not work quite like it should.

It's like two different games
Let's get it out of the way first- it's a good game. No question about it. The gameplay is solid, the "living ammo" thing is fun, has a variety of uses and adds a somewhat unique twist to the game. The graphics are dated, yes, but good enough to have you forget it in an hour or two. However, there is one important thing You need to know. About half way through the game does a complete 180. It starts of with the player as a bounty hunter much reminiscent of Clint Eastwood in Sergio Leones movies, and the setting is appropriately western-esque. However, in a "what a twist" moment it turns out the bounty hunter is in fact a last of some strange spieces, the setting alters, as does your objective and outfit, and the whole bounty-hunting concept goes out the window replaced with leading a revolution a the planets native tribes. It's as if two diffirent games were merged, and it's rather jarring. If you just want a good third person shooter, it's a good choice. If You were interested because of the western-like theme, don't be fooled.

Lots of ideas that don't amount to much
The game shows promising ideas, with loads of different ammunition for you to play around with, stealth components, melee, platforming, and so on and so forth. Unfortunately, it has no idea how to make use of them with some extremely boring and useless level-design. Many encounters can only be solved in rather sloppy ways, making you feel less like a witty gunslinger and more like a bumbling idiot. Stealth can be used very rarely, if ever, ammo can not be applied effectively, making them all blur together into different stats with the same basic effects. Does it knock down the enemy and do damage? I'll take it. The same applies to the world. It may appear fresh and interesting at the beginning, but quickly boils down to Dumb and Dumber humor mixed with the blandest Western stereotypes imaginable. Cutscenes are nice, but voice work is atrocious. The world is full of geese that all have the same grating, high-pitched Southern Drawl voice that will make your ears bleed after a few hours, and they are everywhere, making up for probably 90% of NPCs you interact with. Horrible game with great, stunningly squandered potential.
