This is a narrative game, is not scary, is not action focused, the gamplay focuses in troubleshooting a space station that is in a mysterious mission where things go wrong pretty quickly, the puzzles aren't hard, controls just fine, graphics are gorgeous,I love that retrofuturistic look, (yes, the 90s was a long time ago, big oof) and the ambnient music sets a dreadful mood, all in all, it's pretty fun cinematic experience, highly recommended if you enjoy narrative games.
Game runs if my controller is turned off. As soon as I turn it on it simply crashes. Looks like an interesting game but I'm not gonna play it on keyboard and mouse.
This is one of those game you want to do again to catch details and stories parts you missed during your first time. The story is really good, you play as an AI on a space station waking up after an incident. You will assist Emma, an astronaut in her quest to understand what the hell is going on.
This is a criptic story and at the end i stayed before my screen, thinking about what i just played, trying to remember all, because the end let you with so much questions.
The gameplay is simple, you either control cameras or a little ball that can "fly" all over the station, connecting to everything you can : doors, computer, devices..., to progress in the story. You will face puzzle and riddles you need to solve to see the end of the game. I encourage exploration to gather notes that will help you know each memeber of the crew and the relationship between them. The atmosphere is great, you really have the impression to explore the ISS, there is no sense of up and down just like in space. The music is awesome, adding a mysterious/heavy touch on the ritth time.
Some blackspot : cameras are moving really slowy so it's a little frustrating and there is so many details and objects that sometimes you are lost not knowing where to go or what to do.
If you like space, thriller and mysterious story that will let you with more questions than answers at the end this is the game for you.
Two things you need to know to play.
First: You absolutely NEED a gamepad. Yes, there is theoretical support for keyboard and mouse, but there also is one puzzle right at the end that I couldn't solve UNLESS I connected a gamepad, as the controls from the keyboard never registered. So, be warned!
Second: On the map, you can right-click (or use the gamepad) to mark a waypoint, to guide you to where you need to go. The game never mentions it, but this is essential, as it is easy to get lost.
That said: The story is reminiscent of several masterpieces of the SciFi and SciHorror genres. Visuals the right tone, and the claustrophobic atmosphere does its job well. The sound fits like a glove, storytelling and pacing are spot on.
The puzzles exist, but are super easy, to the point where it feels more like a walking simulator.
What doesn't work is controls. The controls change between interfaces, and are inconsistent. While this adds to the idea of the space station being cobbled together from various systems, it is annoying.
Camera movements are painfully slow, zoom is painfully slow, doing anything is painfully slow. Backtracking and more backtracking, all painfully slow. Navigating your tiny sphere around the station is a chore to do, where you constantly run into things. The parts outside the station are even worse. The constant shaking of the video feed, while atmospheric at first, gets infuriatingly annoying. Every part of the station looks frustratingly identical, and positioning the sphere is more of the same.
But worst is gameplay. Half the time, you are wondering what you are supposed to do. The other half, you know exactly what to do, but the game won't recognize it. Maybe the game wants you to position the sphere half a meter more to the right, or you are looking in the wrong direction.
In short: A masterpiece of a story, fantastic writing, unfortunately thwarted by horrible controls and gameplay that make this a painful chore to play.
The setting seemed interesting but I had to stop playing after a few minutes. The visual distortion effects and flashing images were so bad I had to close my eyes.
