North & South is a combined strategy and action game developed and published by Infogrames in 1989. It features the struggle for preserving the Union during the Civil War (1861 – 1865) through exciting gameplay that combines 3 modes:
 

  • A turn-based strategy where you take command of operations and move your armies to capture new states, engage the enemy, and control the railways.
  • Tactical real-time battles where you use your infantry, cavalry, and artillery to achieve victory. The success comes thanks to bold decisions on the field, as well as sheer audacity!
  • A platformer feature where you take control of forts and hijack trains. Prepare your reflexes as every such mission will put your skills to the challenge.


North & South can be played in single-player mode, yet the game uncovers its full potential when you clash with a living opponent in an engaging hot-seat struggle!

1.0 GOG v2 (28 October 2025)
  • Fixed the game running too fast by adjusting CPU cycles and added an option in the Game Configurator to tweak them manually
  • Fixed keyboard layout issues by remapping keys and added a layout switch option (QWERTY or AZERTY) in the Game Configurator
  • Enabled Cloud Saves to keep progress safely stored
  • Updated to DOSBox Staging for better performance and more customization options
  • Enhanced audio with increased chorus and reverb, plus new options in the Game Configurator to fine-tune them
  • Expanded the Game Configurator with multiple graphics options, letting players select emulated machines, graphics cards, color palettes, and shaders
  • Stability validated
  • Fully compatible with Windows 10 and 11

Epic Union simulatior

hey bros this is an epic game. my dad gave me 20 dollars and i bought this for 89 cent thats a bargian 5 stars brofist
