Big "empty" open world
I started playing No Man's Sky about 6 months ago. Can't believe it's almost 10 years old. The devs are still actively updating it, fixing bugs and adding content. It's a bit similar to Elder Scrolls games in the sense that the world (galaxy) is big and open. There's only minor obstacles such as can't initially jump to certain star systems without upgrading starship drives. Every star system is randomly generated, with random planets. I've explored maybe 20 planets, and all of them are different. Plants, animals, geography all randomized. The bad thing is, it's never as good as manually built world. Or real nature. There's no Alps, no Grand Canyon, no Victoria Falls, etc. I haven't even seen single a proper forest. Every planet is exciting at first, but gets a bit boring afterwards. You can explore the planets, dig treasures and minerals. You can build bases, even underwater, but that's about it. There's not much of a story in this game. There are some major storylines, but it's mostly just "go there and talk to an NPC". So there's definitely a lot to do in this game, but it does get a bit repetitive. Quantity over quality. I feel they could improve the randomly generated planets, to make them more detailed. Add bigger cities. More story missions.
