Fun game from the past. A bit buggy, but that's just how the game is, nothing to do with GOG.

I've sinked a lot of time in my childhood into this game, but now, playing it 12 years later I just can't get off the feeling that this game is too unfinished. It's a common case with Bugsidian games to release games in unfinished states but this is too much. All my playthrough I've been encountering bugs after bugs, AI not working or not working properly, cutscenes looking ridiculous because of missing characters that wander about instead of staying in one place, my character suddenly teleporting to locations and then reappearing at the place he should have been... the list can really go on and on. But the worst of them all is the save corruption bug which has simulteneously corrupted ALL my save files. I could try to find the solutuion (and I highly doubt it exists) but I'm just too tired with it. No game warrants this amount of patientce. Besides, it's not even that good as I remembered it. So, don't bother with it.

I consider this game a tribute to Baldur's Gate for the main campaign of Neverwinter Nights 2, a tribute to Planescape: Torment for the expansion Mask of the Betrayer and a tribute to Icewind Dale for the expansion Storm of Zehir. I assure you, if you liked the old RPG I mentioned, this is a very good game, worth to be played and enjoyed. Thank you GOG to have added Mysteries of Wastegate!

The first campaing is long and entertaining, but a little bit "typical" (kill the bad guy, save the world, even if you are evil), but Mask of the Betrayer is probably one of the best and most epic plots I have seen in a rol videogame. Plane traveling, level 20+ characters, epic spells and skills, a curse that can change the entire Forgotten Realms universe... And one of the best features of this videogame is the level of customization. A lot of races, classes and prestige classes makes the variety of characters near-endless.

I purchased this game when it first came out- I think 2006. Played all the expansions, downloaded modules to play at home, played with the toolset and then experienced it online- you just need the complete NWN2 Game which is offered here at a great price and to find an online gameworld which you can direct connect to (the online server finder is defunct, but you can enter your own direct connect address in multiplayer and skip the verification process). Once you find a gameworld, it lets you use this game indefinitely. My number one favorite gameworld is www.realmsoftrinity.com, which contains tons of custom content, a great storyline, helpful players and staff, and can be played solo or with a group of other real people who are online. No monthly fee, no requirements for you to be "in character" or forced to roleplay, you can RP if you want, and get rewarded for it, or just play the game as it is. If you buy this game, it will more than pay for itself in hours of enjoyment, and for me in years of enjoyment as I still play this game as it never gets old as long as good worlds are out there to explore.
