Nebuchadnezzar is a classic isometric city builder game inviting players to experience the mysterious history and culture of ancient Mesopotamia. In the campaign, players get to rule over influential historical cities filled with magnificent monuments.
Gameplay
From plowing fields to creating products, players must oversee the manufacturing of agriculture and goods for the city population. Players have an arsenal of tools to optimize their objectives. In addition, a maximum overview of their city helps players to solve problems and prevent population loss. Nebuchadnezzar’s gameplay is geared towards all types of players: from beginners of the genre to experienced strategists.
Campaign
Nebuchadnezzar’s main campaign contains 16 historical missions covering the colonization of ancient lands to the conquest of Babylon by Persians in 6th Century BC. Each mission summons a different time period in Ancient Mesopotamian history. Players must carry out tasks important to the specific time and place of each mission, including the construction of historical monuments.
Monuments
During the campaign players will not only build complex ancient monuments, but design them too. Nebuchadnezzar features an in-game “monument editor” giving players complete control over their buildings. From structural design to color scheme to final details: it’s in the hands of the player. Will you recreate history or make history? It’s up to you.
Mods & Localization
Nebuchadnezzar was created with mods and localization in mind. Modders will be able to create their own buildings, goods, and monuments. And in addition, they can invent new missions and campaigns. All definition files are written in the easy to read Lua language. Localizing mods will not be a problem. You can create mods in multiple languages and/or add languages to existing ones. This applies to the base game as well.

Despite all the negative reviews, this game is a gem.
If you put away the nostalgia goggles for game like Pharaoh and Caesar 3, this game is truly a masterpiece.
A plus is that the devs listen to their customers and patch the game and add more content.
This game is worth your time!
Nebuchadnezzar is a mix between Impression Games (Caesar 3, Pharaoh, Zeus...) and Anno series. You have house, and your goal is to level up them using resources and services.
About promising news, you must specify path for sellers. So, you know which house will be furnished first. But you *must*, and it becomes painful when you say to the third seller to follow the same path than the two others, or when you create again and again a resources transfer from a warehouse to another. Because automatic resources displacement occurs only in a really really short range.
Good idea, that solves lot of trouble, but it requires so many micro-management!
That was the "pro". About "cons".
1 campaign. Period. No scenario, no random map; just one campaign. With highly similar maps.
Moreover, house growing is old-fashion. Emperor, Caesar IV or CivCity Rome have introduced more subtle mechanisms: you must provide food, but if there not enough variety, house will not decrease for max to min. Here, it will.
About resources: all map have the same. Contrary to all other games, in which resources you must import to growth your city change from a map to another, in Nebuchadnezzar, it is the same in all maps. In fact, all map are the same, with same difficulties (limited space).
As another player said: no health system, no diseases, no fire, no crime, simple financial system (no taxes!)...
So, some good ideas, but a really empty and repetitive game.
If you're a fan of the old Impression Games city builders (Caesar 3, Pharaoh, Zeus and Emperor), then this game will be right up your alley.
The developers have managed to keep the old-school feel of the gameplay while also modernising its more tedious elements.
- The puzzle aspect is still there in all its glory
- The walker system has been given much more control (finally)
- The UI is easy to use, low foot-print and very intuitive
The game also looks and sounds great:
- The buildings making up your city are very detailed, colourful and distinct
- The environments have a green, tan and brown colour pallet that you will be happy to build over
- The OST is thematic without feeling too repetitive after listening to it over and over again
I have a few caveats that I hope will be addressed soon:
1) The game is not challenging enough
* You don't have to manage problems like fires, crimes, war, and the wrath of the gods
* It's impossible to enter a fail-state, you can only block yourself from winning
* Land fertility doesn't really seem to matter as you can just use irrigation to paint the entire map green
2) Your cities can feel a little bit sterile:
* Not enough ambient sounds to make your city feel more alive
* They did not implement character banter, you cannot talk to your citizens to hear their opinions about the city or the current situation
3) It could do with more content:
* There is only one campaign composed of 16 levels, 5-6 of which are tutorials
* No random map generator / open-ended play
* No scenarios / missions
Despite my concerns, this game is absolutely worth it for the asking price.
For the amount of quality content that is available at launch, the price asked by the developers is very generous.
I'm certain that most (if not all) of the caveats I have mentioned will be addressed post-launch, either with updates or DLC/Expansions.
I can't wait to play more of it :)
So many things going on at once, little details you have to pay attention to. It makes you focus and problem-solve to keep everything running smoothly, not just 'click and drop'. I've learned new strategies and techniques every day from playing, making mistakes and fixing them, or meeting the challenges of the campaigns.
I absolutely love all the little details! Watching the workers do their jobs, the caravans with their donkeys hauling goods, and you can see all the little products they're carrying. The vendor carrying the chair on her head is my favorite.
While others have mentioned the lack of disasters, i have to disagree. Lose focus and run out of wheat for a few minutes, and your entire city can pack up and leave in a domino effect. You can easily lose your city, even after hours of work and effort, but it will be of your own doing, not some random event out of your control. For me, this is the best part of the game. as i cannot stand games where random AI actions destroy everything i've built. I hope this doesn't get changed in the future.

This game is similar to:
Pharaoh, Cleopatra, Zeus, Poseidon, Caesar 3, Emperor, if you have played these and loved them, this game(Nebuchadnezzar) is for you.
If you are new to these kind of games, Nebuchadnezzar is a good place to start.
Nebuchadnezzar have 16 campaign mission, on launch day the mission tab is empty, but I hope the developers will release missions later as a update.
I have followed this game for a long time on the internett, and waited for its release. I am really enjoying playing this game.
