Painful
too much time trying to figure out benign clues and no way to store them. Have to revisit a lot. Can't get past the first page. Maybe when I have days on end to work it I will try again. Just no excitement there.

Runs in Scumm VM
First, I have not played the game yet, so the stars more or less just reflect my expectation. Why I still (or already) write this: Note that this is actually a ScummVM game, i.e. it runs in the same Engine (emulator) used for adventures like Monkey Island etc. So once you installed the game (which worked fine on Wine/Linux) you can just extract the data files from the installation directory and run it in the version of ScummVM for your system (i.e. don't run the scummvm.exe through Wine, but use ScummVM for Linux and add the game there). So far, everything seems to work fine (interaction, sound, video), and looking forward to actually playing this classic. I don't know what all those Running-on-Windows-7/10/11 problems are about, but as long as you get it installed at all, you can try this, too, using the proper ScummVM and not the one that comes bundled with the game.

Crashes on XP and does not work at all
Installed this on Windows XP and it crashed. Stay away if you want this to work on XP.

English Subtitle
Does it have English subtitle? Any of Myst family games have it, too? I've always wanted to play with this game, but I cannot play without subtitle or captioning. Is there a mod or add-on to make it work? What about another game like Myst 5 or Uru? Please advise.
