Only potential
Mount and Blade Warband might be better and a good choice for people who like multiplayer battles. The original Mount and Blade offers only outdated graphics with a casual fighting system.

Historically Decent
By my few knowledges in oplology, M&B is decently realistic, even if a heavy-armoured knight still gets wounded by light weapons (can be ìfixed' lowering the amount of damage received to 1/2 or less). I found the game fun and entertaining, even if still lacks some options to make it a real free-roaming 'medieval' simulator ^-^

Do not buy GoG version aka broken mess
GoG version is a broken mess that doesn't work with mods; gives c++ errors/missing menus, and CTD. Buy this game from anyone BUT GoG.
