Классика тактических экш шпионских игр

Расписывать подробно нет смысла, только самый ленивый пользователь PS1 приставки не знает об этой игре. Много вышло по ней документальных игр, сколько од было выписано Кодзиме и сколько прохождений уже было вплость до спидрана в киберспортивном сегменте. Поэтому я просто покажу сравнительную субъективную таблицу преимуществ и недочетов данной версии на ПК (на старость игры я сетовать не буду, так как это абсурдно) Плюсы: 1. Музыка, которая действительно дает шпионскую суперважную атмосферу вашей миссии. 2. Геймплей своей необычностью в силу того что уже почти не встричаеться в современных играх. 3. Конечно же ЛОР. Кодзима (режисер и сценарист серии игр Метал Гир) всё закрутил по японски. 4. Даже на легком уровне не получиться пробежаться не напрягаясь. Так как раньше по другому думали разработчики при составлении заданий. Минусы: 1. Камера, иногда она жутко неудобный ракурс выбирает (например при битве с Вулканом на танке). 2. Управление снайперской винтовкой (изрядно намучаетесь при прицеливании). 3. Катсцены некоторые просто напросто вырезаны (например погоня за Мерлин в комнату WC, чтоб успеть её заставь в одних трусах, неспрашивайте почему я на этом заострил внимание). Вывод: Если вы любите запутанный сюжет и атмосферу сверхсекретности со шпионских геймплеем + цените ретроигры, то это самое то для вас.

Poorly aged masterpiece.

The controls do not hold up to modern standards at all. However this did not stifle my enjoyment one bit. The game is all there, exactly as it was made 22 years ago. Just as fun as it was 22 years ago, ported to run on modern hardware. DONT sleep on this, if you like the series in any capacity, do yourself a favor and try it. If enough people do, Konomi may see value in porting MGS 3+4 to modern systems.

Bucket Listers Rejoice

For anyone wanting to start this series the right way, look no further. This is the cheapest, easiest, most user-friendly way to get your feet wet and start your path in this amazing game franchise TODAY. Sure, you could also buy the original Metal Gear (also on this site for cheap) and start at the VERY beginning, but it's not really necessary in my opinion. Okay so to anyone who hasn't figured this out already: THE BLACK BAR IS NOT A GLITCH, read that again. Also, reviews that talk about how crappy the graphics look on the PC version aren't lying, it's just something you have to accept about the era this game was made in. It's not as bad as the sprites from FFVII, but it sometimes is difficult to feel the full emotional impact of a tear-jerking scene when you're watching a non-expressive, emotionless, eyeless mask of a face bob up-and-down for five minutes straight. Otherwise this game just blows me away even this many years later. Having owned and played the original Playstation 1 console as a kid I just can't get over how well designed and developed this game is in almost every aspect. The voice acting is phenomenal, it plays like a cheesy thriller action movie with all the whirlwind emotional twists and turns and I love every minute of it. The gameplay is a little tanky, kind of like playing old Resident Evil games, but it's very innovative for the time with a huge arsenal of weapons and items being at your disposal. The story is much like the voice acting and is very over-the-top and dramatic with a spy element that is hard not to love. So what's "in the box"? Well since this is "Integral" you get a more finished version of the original game, with all of the VR missions and whatnot. You could also consider this a "director's cut" because the game is altered slightly to accommodate the PC (mostly in the Psycho Mantis fight). You can easily plug in a PS4 controller to play it.

Recommendations, flaws personal opinions

This game is an absolute classic, granted it's unlike the PS1 port, which I played when I was a kid who always liked the scenes that made the controller vibrate that always created more immersion, which is something the PC port doesn't have, sadly. But that's not to say that the game is bad in any way. You're still playing as the iconic Solid Snake, the story isn't tempered with in any way and the gameplay is just how I remembered it. I would recommend you to play this on a controller though and change the keybindings in-game, then you'd get to have a nice and (for some) a nostalgic experience. Playing with the keyboard is a bit tricky but managable, it doesn't include the entire Alert soundtrack but it's still good, for graphics the PC port uses texture smoothing which removes this blocky-pixelated look of the original PS1 port which is supposed to be part of the game's appeal. With these flaws the PC port is still perfectly playable and enjoyable, but that's just my opinion. This game is one of my favorite games and was the first one that put me into the world of gaming, thus I have so much respect for the game.

As awesome as I remember

Metal Gear Solid is still by far one of the best stealth action games ever made. Yes it is over 20 years old now but the gameplay and storyline are both as brilliant as ever. I've played this game on multiple machines over the years - from the original PS1 to the Twin Snakes on the Game Cube and this version on the PC and I still haven't tired of it. The fact that GOG have managed to port it to modern PCs is an absolute joy - I previously used workarounds and fan patches to get it working but the good news is this version works really well without having to mess around with hacks and patches to get it to run - it runs without a hitch or glitch. A thing of beauty everyone should experience at least once.
