A cyberpunk horror CRPG set on a grim future colony world. Mechajammer uses simultaneous turn-based combat to create real-time tactics with the precision of turn-based controls.



Freely roam through the streets of an off-world cyberpunk city, the killer jungles outside its walls, and the occult syndicate hollows below.



Recruit large squads of mercenaries, gang members, and thieves as companions. Issue commands to the whole squad to keep the turn-based combat fast and exciting.



You and your crew of deserters have crashed onto a hostile jungle colony. To escape, you must gather rumors, bribe enemies, and earn trust through completing missions. In this immersive sim choose your path wisely, as your story options will shift with every choice.



Deep and fully customizable character creation allows you to experiment and design your own playstyle.

Briliant core, but riddled with bugs

The artstyle (w/ music) feels amazing, but I'd advise watching a gameplay, to see if it suits you too. As of december 3rd there are bugs, but the core game looks very promising. Don't buy the game if bugs utterly annoy you, add it to your wishlist. The developer seems to take them all seriously, you can track their roadmap/patches/bugs here: https://open.codecks.io/mechajammer I will update my comment if nothing happens for a long period.

21hr immersed fan review

Gonna speak as someone who's not only a fan of the 2-person development team's work but someone who's been very active in the Discord and reporting bugs since v1.06. Mechajammer is not a typical game. The trailer can be deceiving. Yeah, it's fast-paced (during combat and while driving), but when those two aren't happening it's a pretty chill game. A very atmospheric game, actually. I often find myself so relaxed by the vibes that I slow down and take my precious time exploring. Not advancing. Just exploring, which is one of the main things I feel like players are supposed to do anyway. There isn't much hand-holding (at all) here. Atleast, there wasn't before v1.1. Now it's a bit harder to get confused about things and make drastic errors of not taking notes when you should have. So rejoice, I guess. You'll still get Morrowind-esque directions, though, and end up having to explore your way to some destinations while others are clearly marked in your terminal. This is kind of where the game shines. The degree to which it requires realistically thinking things through. With amazingly limited information and resources, you're on a mission: get off the planet. From there, life happens as you get some leads and an opportunity for some help. How you progress is entirely up to you. Other members of the crew will suggest things and help out, but you'll be the main one choosing your methods and running into danger. But what if you don't know where to find x? Ask the locals about the latest gossip. Didn't help? Think it through. If the person's supposed to be at the docks around a certain town then go where water might be. It can be frustrating until you realize that the game wants you to develop a new set of common sense. To think like you're the character getting shot at. It's honestly wonderfully refreshing. From what I can tell, there is no countdown, so take it easy and go explore. Just save often and mind the bugs, which are the only reason why the game loses a star.

Not a single fun moment with this

I was a backer of this project back in the day, and I tried it only after the 3rd big patch so really wanted to enjoy it but like most other gamers I think this game is not worth to play. Put it straight this is not a classical party based crpg. If you expect heavy story like a Shadowrun game, or emphasis on exploration and worldbuilding like Underrail or a mix of both like DOS 1-2 then you will be disappointed, it is not like those. MechaJ is essentially a detective game where you need to find things to advance the plot. The city is a cyclopean labyrinth with no distinct flavour, everything looks the same, dark and ugly. No side quests or memorable npcs, barely any lore bits, combat is not good but at least works. My playthrough looked like this: after the okay tutorial mission (bridges) I needed to find someone who told me to find someone else teleporting me with a taxi. After hours of meaningless wandering in the labyrinthian district I found the guy who gave me objectives and asked me to return to previous guy, but no taxi this time, so probably I was expected to find a way back in the labyrinth. That was the moment where I uninstalled the game. The navigation in the city was difficult, everything is dark and blurry, there is only a sematic map, which barely helps. But with the lack of story and meaningful content a proper map would make this game a breeze to finish. Honestly this game feels like a very bloated proof of concept. It is not fun and doesn't have depth. I mean these guys are indie developers who should make a game which they want to play. I don't think they want to play this game, hell I don't think anyone wants to play this game. Just avoid it. This is just a terrible product no matter how cheap you can buy it.

Game breaking bugs.

So far from what I can see you have game breaking bugs, like for example ammunition stacks can bug you won't be able to interact with such a stack, nor can you remove it and it takes space in your inventory. I saw the same bug week before in one of the youtubers, that got this game early, videos.

Too much time for everything

I backed the Kickstarter and I've always been interested in this game, but when I finally got to play it I was very puzzled by some gameplay choices i think are awful. The worst one is that the game has no respect for your time. I have work(s) and children and I have limited time to play, but the developers put in wastes of time in most parts of the game. The game take a very long time to start (but maybe I have to blame my 3 years old laptop...) I started with the tutorial, that's well made but rather long, but I had to go away and you cannot save. On the second run I replayed the tutorial and started a new game. When I tried to lockpick a door I had to roll a d6 against the difficulty (6), so it was just a matter of (re)rolling until I got a 6 (18 tries... RNG hates me). Then I hacked the first computer, 2d6 against a difficulty of 10. Again I had to (re)roll 12 times to get a sufficient number but what got me annoyed was that every time I failed I had to start from scratch: I had to select the command, wait for the ingame computer to estabilish connection, type the login (and if you make an error the backspace delete the whole string, so you have to start over), click the roll dice option and wait for the results. It took 7-8 minutes... The straw that broke the camel's back was the combat. If the enemy (rat) gets away from you his health regenerates, so you start exchange blows hoping for high damage hits or a criticals, otherwise it just runs away to come back with full health. I always won, but the combats went on for too much time. I hope the developers will take away all these meaningless wastes of time.
