Master of Disappointment

I must admit there are lots of good new stuff: spells, units, retorts etc. But there are lot of really nasty things as well: 1) AI. Well that is terrible. It is either dumb as hell or super aggressive depending on difficulty. 2) Tactical combat is super dumb as well: like merging worms are retreating from bowmens to the edges of the map or flying units do not want to attack. 3) Rediculous artifacts in ruins. +1 orb of something with cost of 116 mana? seriously? 4) Myrran retort. Everyone become myrran in case you choose it. Standard wizards cannot be myrran on normal difficulty. So you cannot invade plane with another wizards anymore. that was so fun but you really ruined it. 5) It looks like in every single game there are wizards with same race or with same magic as you. Do not expect any "good vs evil" holy wars anymore. It would be really nice to fix these things.

Don't buy - already in the base game!

I'm not sure why this store page exists. The "caster of magic" variant is already included in GOG's base game, "Master of Magic - Classic"! I have GOG's base game, and the launcher has four buttons: 1) Original 2) Original with community patch 3) Original with Caster of Magic patch 4) An ad for the 2022 remake. KIlls MoM Dead!

I have had MoM since it was released and love every bit of it, including the insane AI. This mod just removes any of the fun the original game has. 'You can't have X until turn Y' 'You can't do A until turn B' all this is unnecesary and takes any fun out of the randomness that MoM has always had. Every single thing in the game has been scrutinised to the tiniest detail and in most cases changed, even when there has been no need to do so. I have managed to play the game happily for over 20 years and never needed the original content changed. Finally charging for a free patch is just ridiculous, almost as ridiculous as the launcher which is one third adverts for other games.

Some very good ideas, BUT......

Some truly good ideas to add to and enhance an absolute classic game, but made nearly unplayable and unenjoyable by simple mistakes like an A.I. that cheats, units that won't attack yours if they're outmatched leading to unwinable battles and so on. It's cheap enough, so make up your own mind, but I'll be sticking to the old version.

Loved the original

Was going to buy this, but after reading about it from others, I'll stick with my old dosbox original instead. I REFUSE to buy a game that has built in ads. To me, that defeats the purpose of buying a game in the first place. And that is one of the many reasons I canceled my steam account, and came to GOG, to avoid that type of malicious adware, and steam's built in malware.
