Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded

I was really exited, when they announced they were making a new Leisure Suit Larry game. Well, not really new, a remake of the original from 1987. I loved that game, it had that Bukowski scenery and dirty toilet humour was top notch. So what do I think about Reloaded? Well, it's a nice adventure game, but it is the same! as the original. Very Very little additional content was added. Graphics are great, soundtrack is also amazing, but where the heck is more content? They are charging 20 bucks for the same game from 1987 (ironically there was one remake prior to Reloaded, from 1991), which is way to much. Still, as a great Larry fan, I liked it anyway. First I tell you, my favorite Larry game is still Larry 6, so you know if you can relate to my review. About Larry Reloaded: I really like this remake of the first game. The atmosphere is kind of 80s, somehow dark, and a bit fucked-up, so it's not like the last two Larry Games (6 + 7). The user interface is a bit complicated and there could REALLY be more easter-eggs. The graphics and music are very well made, although there could be more animations for Larry. The puzzles are ok but not the best. The humor is pretty true to the series but not the best of them all. If you only play one Larry game or new to Larry I would probably recommend Larry 6 (SVGA talkie version) or Larry 7. If you already know Larry and want to play some pretty good reincarnation of his first adventure - buy this.

I honestly wanted to give this game a higher review than 2.5 stars, being a huge fan of Al Lowe. This game although retaining the charm of the original to some extent, it just felt a little less polished than the original or vga remake. I don't regret paying the 19.99 for it though, I just hope the profits go to making a new Larry game. We have been waiting for it since Love for Sail. Maybe my expectations were a bit high...but still worth at least one play through if you're a fan and just to simply support a great author of great games.

I backed this remake with kickstarter. I was disappointed in the result: it's too short, barely funny, graphics 99'ish, and too many useless characters (for the sake of making bakers happy). Very far from the laughs I had with LSL6 back in the days.

This remake was a horrible disappointment: the graphics try to be modern but look like they were made circa '99, the narration is horrible, the controls are clunky, and worst of all: I didn't have a single laugh during the entire game. I'm lucky to have bought it when it was on sale. If I had paid the full price, I would ask for a refund. If you want to experience LSL, I suggest you get the original game, not this remake.
