The Legend of Kyrandia (Book One)

Whilst playing through this game, I learned it is very, very easy to screw yourself over and be forced to have to start over if you drop an item you need elsewhere in the game. The story itself is pretty lackluster; stereotypical 'chosen one' beating a super-powerful enemy. But given the time period it came out in, I'm not altogether surprised--strong storylines were not something that came out of most point and click adventure games. I've played a lot of them, including ones with extremely good storylines, I only did this one to complete the series in order--and honestly, I was not very impressed by this one.

Beatiful graphics and music, and plot somewhat nice. There are however some irritating aspects of the gameplay, common to many oldies: - many puzzles are obscure, and some completely randomized - a lot of going back and forth to get items - many maze-like areas and one actual huge maze where you could die a lot - a couple of dead-ends, if you misuse or miss items

Extremely hard game that challenges you Oh my Gosh, GOG, you make me so sentimental. This is the brilliant adventure game with original puzzles and unexpected traps. The game was really hard, because some puzzle ("potions") took weeks for me to solve them, and some puzzles ("books") stopped my lo-o-o-o-ong play and forced to use walkthrough. Even after 15 years I still blame myself, because there (and only there!) I ask for help from the internet. Not so hard, but very interesting part of game, as for me, was a labyrinth. I have an old notebook where I drew placement of all its chambers. It was re-e-e-eally scary to go to the next room with last charge of berries. A lot of fun! :) Malcolm, I never forget you.

Very disappointed on this game. I bought it since I remember all the magazines back in the day praised it. But after completing it, I really do not understand the praise. There is barely any plot, and the whole game is just walking back and forth through unnecessarily empty rooms hoping to find ingredients...
