There is enough fire power stacked here to blow them soulless husks to hell and back; and we are giving it them all. The towns and cities are burning and the end's a long time coming. Enjoy it while you can.

Due to the age of the title, it currently does not support network multiplayer.
I really tried to like it. Shooting is ok a bit monotonous, selection of enemies is passable, good music and average sound. Graphic are bland and boring. But the worst offend is lack of map. Later levels are those mazes were everything looks the same, You need to check every wall or door to see if they can be opened, search for small switches everywhere. It's just not fun. I didn't finish Last Rites, maybe later levels are better but I don't feel like forcing myself through it.
I have mixed feelings about this game.
While I thought the gameplay was great and the atmosphere was very dark, the navigation was terrible and it ruined my experience and my desire to eventually finish the game. I've never spent so much time lost on a map in an old-school FPS, and I don't mean that in a good way. The maps were WAY too big, some of them had huge sections that required night vision, and the game's night vision uses the same battery system as the Minimap, which is really bad, by the way.
had this for my pc but lost the game when we cleaned out the house. So I bought it again here on gog. good horror fps but no map system and it can get confusing on some levels.
This isn't a bad game, not by a long shot. It is definitely flawed though. This is a fun little boomer shooter that answers the question: "Why DOOM wasn't set in a 'realistic' setting?"
And the answer is: because everything looks the same. It's a fascinating piece that is a very good object lesson as to why setting is so important. So why don't we set a first person shooter in what looks like a brutalist downtown area with no night life? Because everything looks like office blocks with the occasional street sign, church, and subway path. Everything has a brutalist architecture because the devs were pioneering the idea of algorithmic co-operative play and they didn't give much leeway to the artists in the first area. Still, as I said, it isn't bad though. It has a very interesting team AI -- where they run around seeking out enemies to blast, and occasionally drop off because they go running after a horde or a turret in the most ill-advised way.
I'm going to go back to it. Maybe the next few levels are more interesting. It has a sprawling map without much to find in it. Technically, though, it is well made for the time.
I don't even know where to start, everything that could have been wrong went wrong during the making of this game.
The enemies are not interesting to fight and your weapons are not interesting to use.
The level design is atrocious and there's no map so good luck finding your way through the mazes!
Level 1 and 5 use litteraly the same map just with different enemy type and placement.
You have a pretty limited radar to show objectives but it can run out of batteries.
I've played of lot of jank in my life and I can safely say this is one of the worst FPS ever made. Corridor 7 and Operation Bodycount are masterpiece next to it. Heck I would rather play NAM than this.
