I like the whole vibe of this game. I even chuckled a bit and some of the more "silly" characters in this game. In the mid to late game, i got lost though and the game didnt really give me a pointer on where to go, so i ran around for a long time only to stumble on 1 open door in a pretty dark area (i revisited older areas multiple times, because i thought i missed something...). The ending was, kinda underwhelming, but i guess that means i must've not gotten the "true ending"
Labyrinth of the Demon King is easily among the best games I've played this year so far, I've played through the game in a couple of sessions, enjoying every minute. The game felt like an open admission of admiration for the fifth and sixth generation of consoles and the horror game classics those systems carried.
There are hints of King's Field, Kuon, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc. However, trying to boil down the game to just an homage would do The Labyrinth of the Demon King a disservice, as it accomplishes many things that are singular to this game, making it a stand-alone and notable entry in the genre.
Labyrinth of the Demon King is an excellent, dark and gross trek through the uglier side of Japanese mythology, featuring some great deep cuts in the enemy roster that you'd be hard pressed to find being depicted in other pieces of media.

The time to finish is not too lenghty and not too short.
The mechanics are solid and has little to no bloat, while still allowing for personal expression with the gear that you use. But most important, the artistic direction and pacing (the vibes) are immaculate. There's an unneasiness that permeates the vast majority of the game's areas. Although the color palette is limited the themes of each tower where always obvious and distinct.
Even though I expected an rpg, the more action-adventure/survival horror resource management and character advancement quickly filled those expectations nicely putting the right amount of stress on your decision making. This will be mostly felt in the beginning to middle of the game where you'll start to realize how finite health and status restoratives are, along with ammo for ranged weapons, upgrade materials and money. There's also some sly one time only decisions for getting unique things. Save that broken sword for later, later than you might think.
So if you were worried about lack of interesting choices regarding your character fear not.
Another thing that you'll feel in the beginning is the combat. It takes time to get into the rythm, it's not by chance that there's an option for a training room in the menu. It's all about stamina management, positioning and reactivity. I wouldn't compare it easily with Dark Souls or King's Field, although you can see the influence. I would say it sits somewhere in the middle between where the intensity is very high, to then drop sharpily as you compose yourself. If your opponent isn't dead and your stamina hits zero, it strikes the fear of god into you.
So take it slow, everything in the game is telling you to take it slow. Running away is an option, but mind that you can't restore stamina while sprinting.

I absolutely loved this game, truly a hidden gem. I loved the gameplay, I wish there was more story to it than just "avenge master, kill demon king", but I still thoroughly enjoy it. There are some confusing parts, such as some of the puzzles go, but that is more than likely user error. Overall, loved this game, would love to see a potential sequel or DLC in the future
Looking for Silent Hill looking game that plays like Condemned Criminal Origins you are right on the spot.
Even thought inspired by it it douse its own thing.
Combat requires practice but once it clicks its great not fan of the respawning enemy's there is a lore reason for it but still I like then things stay dead.
You should play it if you are a Horror fan or Condemned fan.
