Im glad this game exists! 9/10

Game is has what DD except no bs mechanics. Its not bursty in rng where enemies destroy in a flash It doesnt have persistent debuffs that contribute to timewaste timewaste that is not in this game: micromanagement of heroes, healing them in taverns and church and so on.. no 50+ heroe nonsense.. You get cool 16 heroes if you need, but you can do 2 parties or 1 if you wish. Minimap what tells where path leads is very strategic in what you wish: ussually you think in each fork for a while and are happy with results rather than goinging aimlessly. Positives are: recipes, and monster creation itself.. Iratus powers, spells and pretty much music as well! As for maybe positives - minimap. Its ginormous but you gotta scroll a bit. Negatives: havent encountered so far, maybe replayability? Animations and spells and effects were iffy but I somehow got used to it without notice.

Takes Darkest Dungeon and makes it way better.

Personally i couldn't really get into Darkest Dungeon. I found the rng a little too unpredictable. But this game... i instantly got hooked. It has so many more mechanics and extra little management things you can do., and you create your own troops!.. like a mad scientist out of gruesome body parts! Whats not to like about that? The voice of the man who did Caleb in the Blood series is back, and his voice is just as good as ever. In a way this game kinda reminds me of Dungeon Keeper. Being bad is always good. Like i said, i'm normally not a big fan of games like this, but this one does it right. It's perfect. I'm hopelessly addicted. The learning curve is much easier in this one compared to DD, but it's still just as challenging. Although not as punishing. If you've leveled up one of your undead troops, and spent hours refining his/her skills,... and then suddenly they die in a blaze of glory... no problem.. you can get a "brain" that's roughly the same level, insert it in a new troop, and put back all those abilities and stats right back in. Jump right back in the game... No grinding needed.

Alright

CON - Most of my highly levelled starting team (5hours+ invested) has been wiped (on easy difficulty) after swapping in a recently unlocked new minion. Why would you punish the player for trying their new toys? How is one supposed to safely learn how a new composition works? - becoming repetitive after a while PRO + role-switch to bad guys is a funny idea + many minions to choose from + voiceover is entertaining

Mediocre at best.

Unity analytics, blatant cheating on final boss fight, and lack of optimization make for an extremely frustrating experience. My first thought was how incredibly slow this game is. It's like trying to watch baseball on TV. You can crank the game speed to 5X and disable Iratus' and minions' comments to speed things along, but I still had random graphical difficulties where the frame rates dropped to 3-5 fps. My RTX 3080 has had zero difficulties with any other game so, it's obviously an issue with this title on Linux. I wouldn't recommend this title, won't buy anything else from this Russian studio, and if it hadn't been free, I'd have demanded a refund.

it's... ok

the amount of information in the ui is objectively not good. keywords etc not shown in tooltips. the 'codex' is a joke, it's just the popup pages from tutorial. can't even find stun mechanic or how much dmg is crit or how spell cd works listed anywhere. game is too easy and if you're good at thinking through your choices seems prettty shallow. you're supposed to bench your roster to heal but there was barely any need of that at least for the first 2 floors. and since combat was easily manageable, the obvious choice was to spend level ups on income/investment to snowball later on. First playthrough in the first floor (/5), I've already unlocked all the income boosting perks and buildings I can get (rest are unlocked thru achievements style things). overall the game is really full of figuring out the dominant/near dominant strategies for each situations and choices then repeating it over and over e.g. this monster is best built this way, or this move is rarely ever worth it. instead of making hard decisions based on circumstances.
