Really nice but 1 time is enough for me

Really tight and responsive controls, gorgeous art, alluring world and lore, the music is magnificent and it has a splendid exploration experience. Not once I experienced any unexpected bug. Being said that, it is tough as nails and very unforgiving to lacking skill. The worst part for me is that sometimes when a boss kills you you have to go through a difficult and long section of platforming that gets repetitive and boring over and over. A few bosses are a bit too much for me (specially 2 at the last section of the game). All of these made me suffer sometimes in a way that washed away all the fun I had playing until that point. I played it (I stubbornly completed it at 100%), I enjoyed it for the most part but I do not like the feeling of some of the sections. I played and completed all Darksouls and Elden Ring but never got this level of frustration at some parts. If you like this kind of challenges and/or have good skills and got gud, your are going to enjoy it a lot. I know it's a mixbag of a review but that's how I feel after 60+ hours of play. It was an experience that I don't regret going through once, but I don't think I'm going to play it ever again.

Great but so frustrating

It was fun, it was beautiful, it was funny, it was epic, it was super challenging, but it was also so frustrating >:( I honestly think devs need to tweak a few things here and there to "fix" some issues. I'm not talking about putting an easy mode or removing double damage, I'm just saying they need to take a look at a few things: 1. "Runbacks" (a.k.a bench to boss fight path): I understand all this "git gud" thing and that's ok, but if you don't want to "git unninstalled" then you should "git less frustrating". It's not that runbacks exist, the problem is that most of them are completely annoying. For contrast, there is one boss fight that i can remember that doesn't force you to start from the bench, meaning you died and then respawn right there to try again over and over. That boss fight was really challenging and super fun to learn and evetually overcome. This is the "git gud" i'm talking about. Unfortunately, it would seem Team Cherry hasn't learned from previous mistakes, which btw are tiny in comparison to Silksong 2. Collecting rosaries sucks If you thought the simple act of collecting geo was kinda odd then you don't have any idea how awful is to run behind these rosaries. Just add some angular friction to those circle colliders and that should do the trick. 3. Double damage A little spider does the same amount of damage than the final boss... that can't be right. Whether this was intentional or not, there is no denying this feels wrong/unbalanced. To be clear, i like the difficulty, it's just that increasing the damage feels cheap. Maybe there is another thing to tweak to keep the difficulty up... IDK 4. Wasting time BS If i'm dying in one of those "dreams", why TF am i going back to reality? I can easily go back to reality by my own. But no, you'll need to play the same melody like 50 times over and over again just to try that fight again. This is definitely Team Cherry spitting on your face ... "git gud" they and all the other fanboys say. The rest is really good: - The art is gorgeous - Music is absolutely fantastic - Exploration is very fun, oh and the world is a lot more fun to look at in comparison with HK. - Hornet's movement is glorious. - The game can be hard but in a good way and most boss fights are great. - Funny characters and voices. - Being able to save the currency you have is a great addition - I really like what they did with the fleas. Overall, I think HK is a "better" less linear most open metroidvania, but there is no denying this one is fantastic and you should buy it.
