Think twice before purchasing it.

C47 is a unique game: it has innovated in some areas, e. g. by being one the first games which used ragdoll physics and by introducing a fresh concept. The gameplay is satisfying enough, and you really feel like a cold-hearted killer... BUT, it's not perfect: it's the most difficult in the series. And there are two basic facts that contribute to the game's unforgiveness: first, every hit will make you squeeze every single neuron of your brain, you'll spend lots of time exploring to find a quiet solution. Guns-blazing is rarely an option, because a couple of hits will kill our bold friend- and here's the important: you can't save in the missions. You die, you begin the level from scratch. Even when this issues contribute to the game's realism, don't take them lightly. C47 is enyojable and, if you're up to the challenge, incredibly rewarding.

Waiting Simulator

If you enjoy redoing levels a lot and waiting around, then you may find enjoyment. There's no save points and a hit seems to rely almost entirely on knowing the patrol routes of certain people. So if you fail a couple of times, you're restarting the whole mission, and waiting around for the right time this time. If not, there's not much to be gained from playing this iteration. If you're a Hitman fan, even less so, as several missions were remade and improved in Hitman Contracts. It'll feel like you're playing a bad ripoff while drunk. This is a very old game at the beginning of a new original franchise. It's simply a case of every other game in the franchise being great and this one being the rough, unpolished, awkward beginnings.

Great game - issues on win 7

This is a great game, I've played this one many years ago on ps2. Unfortunatly, the gog version suffers some graphics issues on windows 7. For instance, Deus Ex is going pretty well on my laptop, the same with Torchlight, but Hitman is broken and freeze many times. I think this one needs a repair as soon as possible. Please fix this issue, gog, and I will be happy again.

Only recommended for sake of history

This game is a classic; however that does not mean it is worth revisiting in this day and age. Game's controls and mechanics feel a bit janky, AI leaves much to be desired, and the difficulty is through the roof. All but 5 levels are remade in Hitman Contracts, and therefore I would recommend playing that game instead, it adds more of the mechanics that more modern Hitman games have and the graphics/AI are miles ahead. I only finished this game in order to "replay a classic", I cant say I enjoyed the last 5 or so missions in this one. Hitman 2 is where IO Interactive hit their stride and the franchise improved every installment since then. My verdict is as follows. If you are checking out Hitman because you liked later games in the franchise and want more, sorry to disappoint but this game doesnt play much like those. However if you are here to take a time machine back to 1999 and see where it all started then go ahead; however I would recommend lowering your expectations and prepare for brutal difficulty.

"Mhhhhmmmmm..."

^ Few other games will make you grumble under your breath in frustration like this game will. The premise is sound, the execution is spotty at best. Some missions are ridiculously easy and over incredibly quickly, with only a single objective, whereas others will drag on for a couple dozen minutes as you painstakingly attempt to carry out a perfectly executed sequence of events in the right order, without alerting a single soul. One mistake and you'll very likely have to restart the entire mission all over again. The latter example is where the fundamental problem with the game's design comes to the foreground - the programming and coding for this game is sloppy. REAL sloppy. Inconsistency in multiple areas of the two most important parts of a stealth game: the A.I, & the physics. E.g: Enemies will see bodies through walls or platforms above their line of sight, or at other times will ignore corpses right in front of their very eyes. Enemies unaware of your presence will suddenly turn around and sound an alarm as soon as you pull out a weapon (even the 'stealthy' piano-wire!). Other times they simply won't. Pathfinding is chaotic at best - I've experienced situations where enemies that patrol have desynced their regular patterns with one another, to the point where it was literally impossible for me to remove one from the equation without another witnessing it. For some reason, Agent 47 always massively prioritises stripping his victims over dragging them away. Direct headshots don't always kill, even on enemies with no head protection. Have fun climbing up to the top of a ladder and then falling through the earth into oblivion (and meeting instant death). It is these problems that dampen the ahead-of-its-time concept from realising it's potential, and thus the game has not aged well, at all. Even when eveything comes together for a mission, you know the next experience will be a crapshoot once again. I cannot recommend this game. It is not fun, it is frustrating.
