I'm probably in the minority, but I played HOMM4 until I couldn't hold a mouse anymore. Great story telling, far more strategic than HOMM3, and still looks great 23 years later. It's a crying shame Ubisoft ended up with the franchise starting at #5.

The first time you try Heroes of Might and Magic IV you may not like it. There are a lot of changes from the first three. Once you accept the changes you will begin to enjoy this amazing game. Don't give up.

I love the hero system of HOMM, especially when i am playing the campaigns. And i like the fact that you can only build 4 creatures per city and that you have to decide which creatures you wanna take and which you wanna skip.

Needs HD mode for high resolutions, that the only issue, good stuff, different than homm 3, nostalgia factor hits hard, except that it's nice strategy, has it's depth but not that deep like homm 3 with hotas mod, fun campain to follow, hot seat is nice to play with friends - if you have a lot of time
