Heroes of Might and Magic®

I keep coming back to this HOMM due to the art style, music, and design. The campaign itself is completely mediocre, but the real sparkling gem of this game is the Standard mode which has unlimited playability.

The is the seminal entry in the famous spin-off series of the Might & Magic setting. Featuring map exploration, hero development, army management, turn-based tactical battles, and town management, it lays the foundations for the core game play that remains present across the Heroes of Might & Magic / Might & Magic: Heroes series.

Fairly simplistic and II is a better game but still fun

Of course that the game that started all the fantastic legacy of HoMM is an amazing creation, But the fact that really stands out is how well it aged. It stands tall over most genre-similar titles issued the recent years. And this fact is obvious and hard to dismiss as over-praising, simply because, you know, if they would as valuable, they would have started a legacy of their own........
