Really thinking about it...

Because I m giving this game a full 4 star, since it got me really, really hooked, so much so that I finish it and unlocked the true ending ( and the final boss fight which I truly hated/loved it)... buuuuut with a more objective view it should be a full/almost more 3 stars... but again, I received it for free, soooooo yay , 4 stars ( actually, I would give it anyway, bought or not) First things first, I've read a little the other review on this website and wanted to clarify one thing : simple isn't bad, simple is actually difficult to achieve most of the time. Maybe someone could define this product as ''Basic'' but when you realize the amount of things you can do and explore, that argument really fells off really fast. Gameplay wise, it shall not come to surprise that this is a Dark souls clone, with all that implies, so if you are not a fan of the genre, you can still buy it , but it's not really advised. However, for DS fans, it is true that most of it resembles dark soul, but it does have something unique on its own, such as weapons and some system mechanics that are, actually, quite interesting. Speaking of other things, setting, story and overall tone of the game is, again, surprisingly good and quite immersive ( which is one the reason I've actually finished it). At the end of the day, this game, although lacking that ''something'' and despite a few bugs, is programmed by an unexperienced group and they did a really good job at it. So, Just don't hope to spawn ( mmm this joke sounds really forced) on another gamer's playthrough, since this game's online is dead..... buuut the single player campaign it's alive ( unlike most things one the game... gosh that's even worse) and well, just give it a chance.

Прекрасный souls-like

Отличная игра! Что тут ещё сказать? Очень оригинальный соулс-лайк в космическом сеттинге науки и оккультизма. На протяжениии всей вас будет преследовать чувство одиночества и запустения. Во многом это заслуга чарующей музыки и прекрасной эстетики космического брутализма и гигантизма, заставляющие казаться несущественными персонажа и прочих обитателей. Однако в игре есть и npc, которых можно пересчитать по пальцам одной руки, и каждый из них ведёт с своей концовке. Сама станция представляется собой, в лучших традиция жанра, запутанный переплетённый лабиринт. И среди много оригинальных локаций есть "тёмный мир" в который можно попасть в некоторых местах. А с ключевыми боссами можно переговорить, выполнить их квесты и получить награду, после чего сами боссы услужливо свинят. Сам сюжет тоже, как полагается соулс-лайку - прост, но глубок для тех, кто любит изучать. Какие-то люди, звёздные люди-гиганты, занятные личности и записи в журналах. С записями кстати, даже можно поболтать. Сама игра опять же, как полагается соулс-лайку - сложна и запутанна. Кто-то не знакомый с жанром, возможно и будет удивлятся системе сохранений и возрождающимся врагам. Но, эй! Это стандарт жанра, сформировавшегося уже более десятилетия назад! В целом игра не то что бы полирована до блеска (а кто, кхе-кхе, может похвастаться отсутствием багов?), но с момента выхода разбрабы поправили самые критичные и ворох других. И сейчас игра - конфекта. Особенно для любителей космических ужасов и соулс-фанов. Рекомендую.

Put it Back in the Oven

This thing is still raw... -Hit registration -General performance (suspected memory leak) -Bugged/disappearing saves -Unable to select online/offline (ties into save issue) -Lack of feedback on character/monster hits Since the above affect the entire game, it kinda kills it for me. Hold off on purchasing until they get this into a releaseable state. The seeds of a good game are here, but not the roots (yet).

It's proud of what it does bad

Everything that is unlikeable about so-called Souls-like genre is here. Quality of life? You won't find it here; maybe authors feared people will think it's a game for casual gamers if they include things like pause, map or in-game manual. You don't even get a flashlight until you spend 10 minutes in the darkest and the most boring maze I've seen in video games. Visuals? Irrational - that's the 1st word that comes to my mind. We are shown beautiful open areas and then we are forced into dark, ugly tunnels and - to add injury to the insult - it downright hurts the gameplay: neither combat system (both character's moveset and enemy's AI) nor camerawork handle narrow spaces very well. Storyline? I don't know. I played for hours and I DON'T KNOW THE STORY and that is a problem. The writing isn't 'minimalistic' or 'mysterious', it simply don't give (at least for hours or possibly ever) answers to some really basic questions like 'who am I?' 'what am I supposed to do?' and the worst and the most important of all: 'why should I even care?'. Combat? It's barebones. Meet new enemy, memorise its attacks through trial and error (and by 'memorise' I mean learn which ones you avoid by dodging to the side and which ones - by jumping back), find out which one of your 8 melee attacks (standard, post-dodge, mid-air and mid-sprint - all in 'light' or 'heavy' variant, so 8 in total) works best and spam it while dodging enemy's blows, repeat. I didn't go very far in this game; mayby it gets much, much better down the line. But. What if it doesn't or what if YOU are not willing to push through hours (I'm using word 'hours' a lot, don't I?) of mediocre gameplay? I know I'm not. What I am trying to convey: This isn't the worst or even a bad game. But. If you are not a fan of Souls-look-alikes, this game won't even try to change your mind and If you are - there is not guarantees you find any enjoyment here.

Exploration

This feels like a really good mixture of parts of all the dark souls games. Combat (mainly weapon usage) feels a bit like Dark Souls 2, but quicker, with sidesteps replacing the rolling. Jumping mechanics gives it a bit more verticality and some additional puzzle solving that goes with it. The setting and area layouts are great, it makes me want to explore all the nooks an crannies and with the usually challenging mobs and bosses it's a really fun adventure going through the non linear levels.
