Great little game

As someone who wants to experience a game, finish it, and move on I really enjoyed Halfway. There are some design issues with the game, the weapons are at times poorly balanced with some guns like sniper rifles being the best in all situations (even at close quarters). Aside from a few quibbles, the atmosphere is great, the story is familiar but pretty good and most importantly in an era where indie games are all procedurally generated grinds, this game has hand-crafted levels, a beginning and an end and I can't commend that enough.

Unplayable - Mouse Acceleration

This game has a very obnoxious, and obvious, mouse acceleration. It's even further noticeable because the menu uses a hardware mouse, which of course is fine, and then you go into game and you have this terrible phantom movements. Trying to do a circle with the mouse cursor, you feel like you're being thrown in random directions with your mouse.. What a joke. How is there no mention in reviews or the forum? It's really hard to troubleshoot this because the name of the game isn't unique. I found a few threads on steam saying to disable vsync or DPI scaling but neither one helped. The developer has no replied to my email asking for help. Hopefully this saves someone else's time.

great old schoolish sci-fi rpg

It's been a year or 2 since I finished this game, but I was going through my game collection looking to rehash something I had enjoyed in the past and thought this one deserved a review. First off, I the pixel art is fantastic, some of the best for this type of game I can remember... it kept me coming back even though I had quit a few times because I was dying a lot early on. The characters where compelling and I felt like I was the captain of the crew... immersive story, the difficulty was just right for me, the weapons and upgrades felt meaningful and well timed, and I enjoyed this game all the way to the end. Wish I could find more games like this one.

Bottom-of-the-barrel X-Com

I really really wanted to like this game. Cool premise, old-school graphic treatment but that falls apart ironically HALFWAY through. Horrible itemization, leveling, and combat mechanics all around. Snipers and Overwatch is ALL you need. Feels like a bad version of a tablet game. AVOID!!!

almost good

first of all, I would like to talk about my gripes with this game. weapon system is unbalanced, most guns really suck and there is very little variety of guns. some times you will have 80% hit rate and you will still fail to hit your target 3 times in a row. enemies are boring, there is little to no variety of enemies. story is good if not ok, but very slow it will take you a while before you figure out what exactly the story is about, and only if you play attention. missions limit you to number of comrades you can take with you at a time, stupid decision making if you ask me. skill . other than that the game is fun and has a great pixelated environment. challenging but not to hard. and over all a good scify, horror, space, game which I love.
