nice gwent!

One of the few CCGs whose mechanics don't feel like a copy of MTG. Kudos for the unparallel artwork. Love the new instructive tutorial. Fair rewards, no excessive grinding or purchasing required to enjoy the game.

The game we have now, is but a neutered shell of what it used to be, albeit one with a shiny coat, it's heartbreaking to see what CDPR did with the "Homecoming" update(with the name you'd think the game would return to its witcher 3 roots somewhat, but it did the exact opposite). I am just very confused why they did it, i mean, the Beta was perfectly functional, it just needed a bit more rebalancing, addition of new cards, etc, but not a complete overhaul of... pretty much every single thing, except the card art, we even lost the third row. I simply can't bring myself to play, the vast majority of the old mechanics were straight up removed, Duel, Armor, strenghten/weaken,boon being one of the few i can think of right now. A great deal of Cards were straight up castrated, their effects being replaced by something "meh", with the only thing they share now with the old versions being the name and card art(Viper Witcher,Damned Mage, for instance ), Leaders functioning essentially as one time spells(there are exceptions), instead of actual units you place on the board and then potentially revive, the list goes on and on. I am heartbroken and i don't think i will play it anymore

Let me begin by saying I'm an old Gwent player, I'm on this game since closed beta. I've seen every meta, and have a full collection since beginning. Homecoming is exactly what Gwent needed. More depth in deckbuilding, more deck diversity, less room for big tempo swing, factions finally have their own identity... Best CCG on the market and by far ! Is there room for improvement ? Probably, one archetype maybe has too much RNG, but that's one deck (so like 3% of cards), maybe some cards need to be changed... But the overall direction is the right one ! Good job CPDR !

Normally I am not writing reviews but here i have to due to this negative reviews which came after releasing Gwent! I understand the dissapoitnment about after they changed the whole game BUT i have to say its far far better than the old Gwent! At least for me... Been playing beta for a while but stopped before 6 months ago... Now i am back and falling in love with Homecoming! Everything is improved in my eyes, better balance, strategy, ranked games and simply everything. Better look - graphic is jst a bonus. But come on guys! Give it a real try and dont hate it just because its different and you must relearn some things... And for new potential players - Try it yourself, maybe you will love it as much as i do now! Well, excuse me for now, finally gotta go play some serious ranked games which i really didnt like in old gwent...
