Should've been a blockbuster

This is a creative, interesting, fun, and potentially huge game that was overlooked due to shocking marketing and a few design decisions. This is strategy in the true sense of the word --- you play as the general giving orders to your ghostly troops. There is great variety of ghosts, a decent levelling mechanism, and a lot of fun to be had scaring mortals in the well designed levels. The game can come across as easy, but collecting all the ghost in a level requires some problem solving, and getting the medals and bonus plasma (used for levelling up your ghosts) can be quite difficult. Fans of horror and ghost movies will appreciate the references and everyone should enjoy the irreverent sense of humour. Not just little kids game

I remember seeing this on the shelves, and didn't pay it any mind. The Cheesy box art looked to me like one of those games kept with the rest of the boring unimaginative krass games they try to sell to the smaller kids. But now it seems that i was way of the mark. the graphics on the front are representative of the characters in the game and the fmv sequences but as soon as i launched into the game i could see that it was ging to be special. The cheesey fmv is impressivly animated and detailed. the gameply is fun, addicitve, challenging and actually very funny. Its also got a bit of a dark streak that i like. at $5.99 this games a scream (get it!) thank you GOG for bring us missed opertunities like this.

A Creepy Take on Sims

I love this game. My kids and I play it every now and then. Your job is to use a team of ghosts to accomplish fiendish tasks like scaring families away or unlocking a sinister demon. It's incredibly fun to try different ways to scare people and see their reactions. One of our favorite parts is to make the kids possessed and terrify the adults. It's fun for laughs as the characters act pretty goofy. Excellent thinking game also. You have to consider your ghosts strengths and weaknesses and use the right ghost for the right job.

Finally.

I've been waiting the past few days very anxiously for the release. I never got a chance to play the game back when it was released (mostly due to the ultra-cheesy cover art, which seems to have turned alot of people away from this game). The game is a true gem, aside from the few "scare everybody" -missions, alot of the other missions require almost point-and-click adventure game style decisions (which ghost could be used to do something particular at a certain spot, etc). The game is so bold that it even some "tactical RTS" elements, where you have to position your ghosts, armed with particular powers. I particularly enjoyed the humour of the game; you'll get a chance to scare people like Ally McStick and Obi Wan Shinobi in alot of movie-inspired scenarios like The Calamityville Horror, The Blair Wisp Project, Deadfellas and Spooky Hollow to name a few. I can definately recommend the game for fans of genre-adventorous games.

A true Underdog....

I bought this when it was first released oh so long ago (I still have the poster with all the ghosts on it that came with it) and it remains a gem. The premise is simple - you are master over the spectral world and need to save ghosts trapped in it and defeat the ghostbreakers. Within the majority of levels there is a ghost to be freed - two levels have hidden ghosts to free as well. You get plasm resource by creating belief amongst mortals of your presence - the more plasm you generate the more powerful the abilities at your ghosts disposal. You select a certain number of ghosts from your team for each level and each ghost has certain specialties - electrical abilities, work with the elements and so on.... There are therefor a myriad of possible ways of dealing with each level. Your ghosts when you first get them are untrained and know only a few abilities and are not very skilled with them. The more you use a ghost the better it gets at using it's abilities efficiently. By completing levels you get a certain amount of gold plasm which you can use to buy new abilities for your ghost collection. There is only a limited amount of gold plasm so without editing your save game to give more decisions have to be made about which ghosts you want to train up. The game was set for at least an expansion - if not a sequel - as seen in the original ending. After any possible continuance was canned Sick Puppies released a final level to tidy up some lose ends. It was a crying shame that so many missed this and the publishers decided that it didn't have enough market penetration to warrant another... If you liked Dungeon Keeper or Evil Genius you will love this.
