Great dose of Nostalgia

After downloading like may other I ran into the issue of the game not working. But a quick 10 minute google search later and I found the patch on GitHub, as well as the instructions to activate the Windows DirectPlay feature. After that it was smooth sailing, the hardest part now is attempting to rememer how to play the game! I havent played this game since its release in 1998 at the age of 12, my dad loves gangster movies and naturally bought this game as well, I cant wait to gift him a copy for old times sake. The game itself graphically has not aged well by other peoples standards but I still frequently play games like Baldur's Gate, Diablo II and AoE II so this is just classic old school goodness.

Windows 10 Users, Rejoice!

Thank you GOG for still keeping this game in your library. As user 'fergas' said earlier in November, 2018 and 'Shen_ji' even earlier in June, a certain user of GitHub has managed to fix the render issue. Elishacloud's efforts in bringing this jewel back to the living can be found here along with the fix: https://github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper/wiki/Gangsters-Organized-Crime Now, regarding the game... I still remember playing this magnificent beast back when I was a kid. It was totally amazing to take control of a Mob and spread its influence all around the city. Recruiting new people, running illegal business, even trying to run for mayor. And all against 3 other computer gangs. An let us not forget the police that, even with it's weird behavious, was a pain in the neck most of the time. It's a great buy for anyone interested in becoming a Godfather and running illegal businesses.

A good but complicated game

This is a game that requires your complete attention, there is a lot of micromanagement in it, as you have to make sure that you collect money every week, are keeping a good eye on the other families and that you make sure that the cops don't bust your illegal businesses. You can end the game in 4 different ways one is to stop being criminal and another one is to be elected as mayor for the city (and its not as easy as it sounds) To bad that the sequel to this one didn't continued on the same path and tried to fix the problems and reinforce the gold in this one. A must try for every Gangster lover and for those who love micromanagement games.

Great idea, broken gameplay

While the game runs there are gameplay and AI limitations that completely break the experience. Pathfinding is terrible and hoods will frequently take the 6 block route to go the half block place you've directed them. Kill orders typically fail against running targets ( so when your office is known your chances of intercepting murder squads you absolutely know are coming are near 0. When I say fail I mean generally your hoods don't even shoot, they run next to them for a bit and give up, or they run next to them for a bit not firing and police shoot your hoods. ) Your limited to 4 hoods guarding your offices front in total out of your entire gang, so the enemy gangs 4 person hit squad will generally kill about ten of your hoods per attack in collateral damage. All the breaking bugs seem to effect only the player though. I want so badly for this game to be good but playing it is fighting the screwed up mechanics processing in addition to the AI opponents. When I say screwed up mechanics, I don't mean I don't like the mechanics, I mean they do not function properly.

Where do I start?

Really, that's no joke. Where do I start? If there is one thing that I hate more than anything else, it's when a game appears to be sporting a tutorial mode, but doesn't really. I select the Tutorial, and the game starts, but there is not even a single window that tells me anything about what I need to do and/or how anything works. I have no idea how to play this game. And if this tutorial is any indication, I never will. So if this game deserves more credit than a single star, someone needs to look into fixing that Tutorial mode first.
