Freespace 2

Do you ever have the urge to participate in great space battles? Do enjoy a good story? Do you miss the good old days, the grand era of space sims? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the freespace series is right for you. It's quick to learn, and hard to master. While dated, the Graphics are still pretty enough to hold their own, and the space combat itself is gripping and unforgiving. In closing, for a few bucks you get a lot of game. It's worth it. When I first played this game I always told myself "Just one more mission", and found myself awake at 3 or 4 in the morning plenty of times, it's that addicting. Enjoy!

this is probally the best space combat simulator of all time ive played alot includeing some of the wing commander series and this supases them. i wish the genre wasnt all but dead and that someone would come out with a freespace three to help wrap the story up and explain things like why the shivians caused a sun to go super nova.

I joined GOG because of Freespace 2. The game was brilliantly constructed, I felt so engaged by the story and gameplay. You never learn your character's name, you're just a no-name pilot who's skills earn him (or her) spots in elite fighter squadrons. The game makes you feel small, whether it's by flying past a capital ship, or by being in another star system while a major space battle occurs else where. However, even though you feel small, you aren't insignificant. Every enemy bomber you shoot down saves lives aboard allied ship, and every capital ship you wreck protects the special equipment and crews aboard allied freighters. If you are a fan of military science fiction, especially the Babylon 5 TV show and the Honor Harrington book series, do yourself a favor and pick up this fantastic game.

I originaly got the demo of this in a flight deck 3 game i got. when i played it i was blown away, ingame quite literaly a few times. i am now going to buy this game from good old games and get lots of mods

This game is just one of the best games ever created. Freespace 2 is a game like no other, with it's compelling storyline and breathtaking space combat this game will have you on the edge of your seat saving humanity and Vasudans a second time from the Shivans. This game is a MUST HAVE for combat, action and space lovers.
