What can I say? It's a classic. The art is gorgeous. The soundtrack is short but stirring. The four heroes are highly distinct in their style of play and the research investment choices make each playthrough unique. Quick word of advice, if you can track down a copy of the old stategy guide, do so, it will help you catch certain bonuses.

For those familiar with Panzer General and other classic wargames this will immediately feel like home. What makes it stand out is beautiful presentation: interface, music, animations are all lovingly crafted for a grand fantasy adventure. And time-proven mechanics make sure the game is rock solid until the end... and maybe a bit more if you fancy an alternative playthrough path or a multiplayer match.

I’ve been playing [i]Fantasy General[/i] since its release in 1996, and it remains one of my all-time favorite strategy games. While I appreciate the spiritual successors, like [i]Fantasy Wars[/i] (a fantastic game in its own right), I find myself returning to the original [i]FG[/i] every time. There’s something about its gameplay, pacing, and charm that still feels unmatched. It’s a real shame that [i]Fantasy General[/i] hasn’t been updated or converted to a modern engine 1:1. The original game has an undeniable magic that no amount of updates can replicate, and its depth and replayability stand the test of time. In an era where few games can hold your attention for decades (and most modern games are unimaginative slop), [i]FG[/i] remains a shining example of design that lasts. I’ve played this game countless times over the years, and each playthrough is just as enjoyable as the last. This is one of the games i fondly remember from my childhood and have been itching to play it again for some time now. It's a classic strategy game, well put together, units are balanced, and the audio is great. Who can forget the hilarious scream when you kill an enemy unit, something like - "meheaarra!!!" but long and drawn out and sounds like a dying cat. LOL
