By far the worst Beth game besides 76
It's hard to even call this mess an RPG. It shares far more in common with modern shooters than Fallout 3/New Vegas, and you can only ever play as one character since your character is voice-acted and the choices all amount to the same things. However, there's still something here that's worth exploring if you've got nothing better to play, just don't come at expecting an RPG experience. You can literally just play it like a shooter and try not to let the incredibly shallow mechanics get your down. The main story is pretty terrible, but the world has been well-crafted and there are some interesting NPCs. I treat it more as a fan project than a canon entry to Fallout since it retcons so much of the original lore.

If you're playing this game vanilla, you're robbing yourself of the real nectar tha't being offered (Even vanilla purists use the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, at the very least) Fallout 4 is the creme de la creme of Bthesda modding experiences Want to mod your game into a hardcore tactical survival sim, city builder, YTP fever dream? Or maybe you just want to "repopulate" the commonwealth... or more questionable things... Heck, you could just sip coffee while you chronicle your misadventures inside Pip-Boy With hundreds of hours of tutorials, pages of guides, and tens of thousands of mods at your disposal... Purchasing this DRM-free jewel is a no-brainer Especially since the Fallout London overhaul is about to drop (conveniently hosted on GOG) Uncommon but valuable knowledge: The Triangle of Death (TOD) Formed by Sanctuary, Abernathy, and the first Red Rocket settlement. Building too much in these settlements, especially Sanctuary, can trigger a CTD and instability Before installing any mod Read every word under the mod DESCRIPTION tab (or don't... if you're feeling risky) At least skim the first page of the POSTS tab (a place of valuable, hidden knowledge) Delete anything/ build anywhere mods One way ticket to crash city The dorito powered engine does not like these mods (because of triangle reasons...) Mods work, but require steam api dll
The game is good and works. Sadly whoever makes the script extender for gog version really screwed up and the SE requires the steam api to work. Makes 0 sense but modder was probably lazy. anyway, outside of that, the game is similar version except for the creation store or whatever. You dont miss much, and save space. BGS however declines to fix major bugs as proved by the recent update
