Unfair dealing
No discounts and they even higher the price? Funny developer.

Disabled Content - Do Not Buy
This is an early access game, and they are charging $30 here on GOG. If you buy here, you will NOT have access to public games, or updates direct from the vender. You will only get updates through GOG which may be delayed. To charge $30 per single used on an early access game is rediculous. To not even provide single access account to the Factorio.com resources is theft. I do not recommend purchasing this game, nor will I ever buy from this developer. Bad business practices.

Certainly not for everyone.
Factorio is a game I've tried to "get". I understand the individual pieces, but then attempting to make them all fit together is where I get a bit lost. Your ultimate goal is allegedly clear: Make a rocket and send a signal into space to... Well, it's an endgoal. The problem so happens to be the million or so steps between that goal. And several distractions, even though it also feels like there are logical things missing. Like weather. Picture this: You've crash landed on a planet. My first concern would be a shelter. The game says: "Build a drilling rig". Instead of attempting to tame the alien fauna, the game says: "Bust a cap in them like a G." The only use for water is to power your industrial machines, the only use for food is pithy healing. But hey, it's implied that you're some kind of alien in a biosuit, maybe you're silicon based and don't need for what we take as basic needs. The building of a rocket is a massive logistical undertaking, even though gunpowder, liquid oxygen, and ethanol are conspicuously absent from the game. Speaking of conspicuous, there are several superfluous systems included in the game. Never during my many times of playing the game did I think, "Boy, I sure could use a wire speaker here!" To wit, the many items included in the game often distract or detract from your final goal, and there are many research branches that while required, themselves often contain nothing worthwhile. And...this is a game that relishes in being a zeerust industrial hell. There's very little in the way of colors, the OST is minimal at best, and the circumstances of the planet gives the impression of being primeval or past the prime of itself. It just isn't the kind of game for me. There's a few other factors here or there, but I feel that mentioning them is beyond the scope of reviews.

To my surprise I refunded it
I like Cities:Skylines, RimWorld, PrisonArchitect and after reading all the praise I was sure Factorio would be great for me. But I refunded it after playing 4 hours or so, because of the following reasons (which are all my opinion): * The controls are unintuitive and fiddly. You have to use wasd to move around, there is no option to control the player character by mouse. Opening the inventory is not possible by clicking an icon, only by keypress. The inventory window then has no option to close it by clicking, instead you have to press a key again. That goes on and on throughout the game. The main problem with that is: when I have to build MegaFactory17 with thousands of connected items, I don't want to have to fight the controls. And I also like to sometimes sit back and relax and control these types of games with a mouse only; that's just not possible here. Examples for what I would like: give me an icon to open the inventory, and when it is open let me right-click anywhere to close it again. (Right-clicking should cancel/close pretty much anwhere.) When I build something and want to rotate the orientation, let me use the mouse wheel to do that (instead of repeatedly pressing 'R'). Add buttons to refill machines. And so on. * At the moment I think the tech tree (at least in the beginning) is very linear. I started two games and there is no variation in what you have to do for the first thirty items or so. So I got the impression once you figured a good design for getting to the next techs, the actual building of the factory becomes only busy work. * And last thing I didn't expect: in a way there is not enough to do. Your player character is alone and there are no other goals than getting to the next tech, building the next factory module and perhaps putting up some turrets to defend your base. It's all a bit bleak. That said, Factorio is an interesting game and I will take another look in a year or two. At the moment - for me - it's not really enjoyable.
