Inferno, incredible except cutscenes
Inferno. I gave it 4 stars only for the terrible cutscenes and because it is as hard as the inferno itself and more. But what an INCREDIBLE game for the times, and for modern times too. Take an hard sci fi game in 3D flat, gourad and textured wonderful cgi mixed stile, where you pilot an unmatched super spaceship in space, on planets, and INSIDE spaceships and structures. You can freely go into these structures and explore it. You can go on a planet ignoring your orders (or following an invasion to defend). the planets are wonderful, you must see it to believe, jump in arcade mode and select planet Remus for example: the atmosphere has lot of dust particles suspended in the air, and if you set the external view the ship leaves a credible trail of dust moving in the air. Supreme graphics. Every object is destructible. And the music? I have very happily discovered the GOG version has the CD original tracks, several awesome progressive space hard rock tracks from the group "Alien Sex Fiends" : they alone worth the price, but roaming on a giant planet chasing and destroying Rexxon destroyers with hard space rock music is more than awesome, one of the highest game experience ever for me, in the '90s and in the 2023 too. Sadly laser weapons spends energy, and when energy ends, the antimatter core of your ship collapse and explode, unless you take some bonus battle pods that sometimes are on planets. The only intentional flaw of one of the greatest (and less known) space opera games ever. If you want to play the game only for short experiences of occasional arcade space and planetary combat and exploration with awesome music, consider my vote a five star and got it!
