Empire Earth Gold Edition

EE is a rather unique RTS that is somewhat akin to Age of Empires, but stretches upon a much longer period of time. It also features new concepts like buildings (or units) with particular area effects or protections again specific things. The interesting twist of the game is that there's much more to balance between economy and military than there is in for example Age of Empires. However, you should know that this game has two particular 'nuisances': 1. Units, especially ships are navigating terribly and it's sometimes a random back and forth when moving since the one unit wants to go to another place than the other one does. 2. The AI itself is terrible (because the game is more complex than e.g. AoE) and employs an insane amount of cheats to be challenging. This is particularly problematic because the cheats make certain strategies that work against human players moot: For instance, AI enemies get a huge amount of resource income for 'free', i.e. they still get it even if there are no citizens working. That leads to strategic bombardment being not as effective as you'd think it to be, as destroying all town centers will only slightly slow down troop production if such facilities still exist. Overall, this leads to a battle against a AI player making a lot of strategies that would work against non-cheating players not working and alter the gameplay a lot.

sending me back to being just 5 when this came out (not long ago) and playing it everyday till i got a windows 8 computer, the reason? it will not work on windows 8 unless you have a good nvidia gpu, yes strange but it seems to have a problem with intel integrated graphics and windows 8 so if you have both windows 8 and intel integrated graphic only, 3 words... DON'T BUY IT... unless you have an nvidia gpu

Empire Earth is a great classic strategy game which everyone loves playing! It can be very addictive playing with friends, epically if you're defeating them. Why not challenge your friends to an EE game?

Best RTS ever. Time period is from cavemen to space combat. It will consume amazing amounts of your time. It works great with Windows 10. The GOG installer is legit and gets the Gold Edition up and running fast. I still have the original books and charts - and they are included with this in .pdf form as well.

I'm not the top RTS player, but this one is quite good...just the part that you advance between a lot of different time periods and goes from per-historic age to future-tech age is just something I really admire... Not really a "must own" but definitely a "worth playing".
