Great game

Many critics of this game have been so based upon the performance of the game itself, there are an occasional CTD, it is a shame. Performance, I believe the art and animations have been given sufficient time & attention to warrant the need of additional horse power. The story is intriguing, some voice acting would be great, the strategy layer is novel, the tactical battles maybe a little repetitive but you can hone your strategy to perform just the decisive ones. Lots of marvellous creatures, critters and monsters, all well detailed and described. Any future iterations I would be keen to see as an enhancement of this idea itself as opposed to a radical change in direction. I get the impression the developers have worked hard on the product and it may have been a pleasure for them, but I must deduct 2 stars for the CTD's, It has been marketed in the professional space.

Subtle and Satisfying

Having never played Genesis, I came to this game with the HOMM series as my reference point. Compared with HOMM, I've found Eador to be a more richly rewarding play experience--both its economy and its tactical combat possess a depth and subtleness that the HOMM formula lacks. Eador offers much more interesting choices in terms of hero advancement, army composition, stronghold building and kingdom management--in particular, I vastly prefer exploring and building up my provinces in Eador to running in endless loops trying to harvest resources and defend resource nodes in HOMM. The only drawback, in my opinion, is that the lack of different playable factions means that the play experience takes on a visual sameness after a while compared with the variety offered by the different races/factions in HOMM. In Eador, rather, the variety of play experience is provided by your choice of hero and of alignment (good/evil)--each of the four basic hero types plays very differently, requiring different stronghold builds, army builds, and battlefield tactics. Graphics are only passable, but overall a great game!

Really like the game

Not sure why all the complaints about it being a nicer looking Genesis. Im pretty sure thats what they said we where getting. Anyways there are some problems but the devs are flying patches off the shelf. Extremely impressive just within a week we have 4 patches fixing key issues. Give it a shot the game keeps getting better!!!!

Nice Game but keeps locking up!

Just bought this game and I am on the 1st shard I love the game play but after a few days of playing it has started locking up on me. It happens during battles when the enemy starts their turns--it will stop and give me the hour glass. I have waited over an hour and it never clears, rebooted and still locked up and the only way to continue is to restart the game. It doesn't happen all the time, I can skip that battle and do several more with out issue then it will happen again and some of these battles are needed to complete quests. My computer is way above the recommended system so that shouldn't be the issue. I don't want to start the campaign only to have it lock up and not let me complete the game. I sent an email to the company maybe it can be corrected. From what works the game is great and would be a 5 star--but can recommend it based on my lock up issues.

Remake, not Sequel

Oh boy, what a disappointment! I really liked the first one, felt like a different Heroes of Might & Magic. I stopped playing Genesis because of the below-average AI, especially recognisable in combat, with AI units blocking each others path. I thought MotBW could be better at everything, and so i preordered it. Silly me. Ok, I should've checked. But still... MotBW gets one star above worst rating for graphics, which aren't bug-free, but very nice to look at. But that's it. For the rest of it, it's exactly the same game. Exactly the same story, even exactly the same sentences in dialogue, and, the most annoying part in my opinion, exactly the same AI making exactly the same mistakes. Very very disappointing.
