Excellent in every way

This is the game that made me fall in love with old-school FPS games and Doom-likes. And it's simply wonderful. Controls are fluid, jumping and terrain traversal are satisfying, weapons are fun to use and quite balanced as well. Enemy designs are creative, eldritch and unsettling, very fitting for the game's horror atmosphere. Sound effects are iconic and memorable. The story is conveyed through a subtle way and is rather interesting for a pure action game. Personally, I think the levels are very well-designed and fun to explore. There's also a bunch of secrets and easter eggs to find, such a shame I'm bad with directions so I only get lost instead of finding them all. Pretty sure that fans of Lovecraft would like this game as well, because [Data expunged due to spoilers] and the elements present in the game are well-crafted. 50/10, would blow up cultists with grenade launcher again.

Best Boomer Shooter

Controls are as smooth as Half Life 2, the story telling reminds me of Portal, there is even voice acting! It is also an immersive sim like Thief or Deus Ex where you can find shortcuts, lift almost every item in the game, and not even kill anyone. The weapon designs and the overall graphics may not look the best but that is why the game runs so well and you will be so busy shooting bad guys to even care. The boss fights are better than in Vanilla Quake for sure and look I forward to playing again on higher difficulties. Overall, if you are looking for a good FPS, add this to your collection! The game alone makes me more excited for Gloomwood and Ultrakill!

Absolutely fantastic!

To make it short: If you are into fast paced and atmospheric shooters I highly recommand this game to you. It's cheap even if it isnt on sale and it is worth every cent/penny. It's highly addictive, has a great atmosphere and amazing sound and art design. The graphics are obviously an hommage to the 90s shooter era like DooM and such. The soundtrack and sound design are a treat. Do yourself a favor and play it with headphones if you can. The gameplay is pretty much straight forward and thats what works the best for such a game in my opinion. There is still some depth to some weapons but nothing too crazy. The map design is also incredible. You got everything covered from mazes to big open spaces. Some of them even blew me away with how gorgeous they were. All in all I really dont have anything bad to say about this game if I'm being perfectly honest. If you are looking for a simple, yet fun and highly addictive, fast paced shooter with great atmosphere? Look no more.

Amazing.

One of the best classic-themed FPS games. Everything is amazing, especially the weapons and maps. Great for anyone who wants to try out a classic FPS game, but not something too old!
