Dungeon Keeper Gold™

I was really happy to see the game has been made available and even features a better resolution (press alt+R ingame) which is nice, certainly not necessary for GOG lovers, but still. What is completely annoying, however, the "options" are there just for show. You can try to redefine keys, but the game won't register 99% of them. You can try to shutdown the most annoying ingame music of all times, but even though the game shows it being turned of, it is just as loud and superfluous as it ever was. You have to select "yes" on the "invert mouse" option to actually NOT have an inverted mouse. All the "launch options" except for languages and "graphic settings" do literally nothing. A shame, I expected the game to receive a bit more love and attention, but then again I picked it up on sale and it runs. DK being an amazing game with almost every big language localisation provided, would be enough for 5/5, but given the "just for show" menus and options is -2 overall.

I have played Diggles: The Myth of Fenris before this and Evil Genius, which I put in mind as same genre. I thought that this genre is just not for me, at all. Then I played Dungeon Keeper, favourite childhood friend of my furrrrry friend. Yep, good game is a good game it turns out. Build dungeons and destroy other keepers or get invaded by heroes. Pretty fun too, for most parts. The pacing is fast too. I don't know what makes this more enjoyable than other, but I suspect that it's because other games I've played them were continous with bad worker AI. This one has good enough fast worker AI while sticking to small levels one after one, also keeping the pace going. Of course it's problematic at times. Campaign is a bit too old-fashioned like with most strategies, albiet it still keeps progression going by introducing new elements over time. You can be great FPS player by possessing creatures and having fun but almost every fight devolvers to a clusterquack at a single spot with everyone being thrown there. Not everything feels balanced, albeit there is nothing that is too broken, just a lot of fun stuff that sometimes is not effective at all. And I still got tired of it. But hey, still can be surprisingly fun. Also, style gets A+. Very 90s dark fantasy with focus on cool. With that CGI but awesome feel. Violence is on spot too, lotsa blood and meaty hits. Unique environment where it's not boringly strictly cubic but isn't too cartoonishly wacky. And great music as well. Please use Dungeon Keeper FX fan mod for fixes.

Played this game as a kid after watching my dad play it. Decided to go back and play it again a decade later and wow even to this day its hard to find a game this fun. I wish there was a way for multiplayer or even more levels. Im highly disappointed with DK2 and the mobile game. Nothing beats the OG DK.

Great game, had to buy it because I'd lost my cd. This copy doesn't work, keep getting the 'Where the hell is the cd' error.

The "Most helpful review" states that the Deeper Dungeons expansion is not included, but as of Dec 2013, it apparently *is*. Dungeon Keeper & GOG FTW!
