Deep, fun, frightening, awesome!

Inspired by classics such as Mother on the NES, Dreamed Away is my current favorite pixel art role-playing game. I don't think I've ever played a game in which every detail (sounds, sprites, chats, maps, …) has been that meticulously crafted. It's hard to imagine that a single person, Nicolas Petton, is responsible for (at least) 95% of the work: the code, the graphics, the music, … Nicolas is a genius and his latest creation is just amazing. Théo is a young kid living a happy life with his mother and joyful sister Louise in Brittany, France. Everything is fine until what looks like a nightmare starts to blend in: Théo gets surrounded by ghosts in a dark and terrifying version of his house. From that moment on, he will never be able to tell reality apart. During all his adventure in incredible places (including catacombs, a nice little village full of weird characters, and an under-water research center), Théo will never cease to look for his joyful sister: Louise is the only reason he will never give up. Unfortunately danger is never far away! I love this game!

a game made with love <3

I can't believe that the game I'm following since 2.5 years is finally out. I don't really have to tell you what the game is about becasue for that I recommend you to read the store page. But I can tell you a bit how the game feels. One obvious thing are the graphics. Those are surely inspired by mother/earthbound and are so lovely made. They are consistent until the end and even though it doesn't have the highest resolution he manages to give everything so much detail, even the animations are lovely made and detailed like for example a small step back when something dangerous happens. The music of the game is also really good. Every area has a unique track and they always fit the area. Well even though there are a lot of awesome tracks, by far one of my favorite one is in chapter 1 at the small hidden area with the mushroom. The combat in this game is inspired by undertale with the minigame system. Here you get two main systems. A directional QTE and dodging projectiles system. Both system have a lot of variations so they never get boring and over time they actually get difficult but because there is always a pattern which you can learn and so you get used to it. You attack with a single bar where you deal more damage the closer you get to the middle. Sounds easy but even with my playtime I can't do it 100% of the time. The most important thing though is the story and I can't say much without spoiling it but IT IS SO GOOD! It's not obvious all the time but you can théorize a lot about it and at the end it is really worth it. Please play the game or at least the demo before buying. There is so much love put into it and I'm excited to see all of you playing it! Stiles Out

Game of the year for me

Dreamed Away has blown me away, and I fell in love with it very early. Why you're asking? Keep reading then: Atmosphere The atmosphere is amazing! The world feels familiar and eerily distorted at the same time. And the mix of being cozy and subtle horror harmonizes perfectly. Story I can tell you that much: It's deeply emotional and wonderfully written. You can feel the heart and soul that was poured into this project, and it makes it a wonderful experience. If you're curious, you need to explore this mysterious place on your own. And don't get lost! ;) Gameplay It's a real-time, skill-based combat system with mini-games mechanics. Every enemy has different attacks, so every encounter feels dynamic and fresh. Visual style The pixel art is gorgeous! The characters are lovely, and I love the vibrant scenes that are going to transform into eerie environments.
