A Very Disappointing Game
Character creation has issues. The game will warn you if you remove points from your class’s primary skill. If you switch weapon skills you will get no warning, and your automatic load out of weapons will not update, so you will be suboptimal. The camera options are a mess, requiring you to zoom in and out to see everything. This made it a pain to find loot. After an hour of playing I finally got a tutorial notice of the key combination that highlights treasure in your area. You still need to zoom in and out to be able to pick up your loot. The first companion I found had such a backstory I had to look her up online to confirm she wasn’t a trap. The next one had an incongruous Texan accent in a fantasy game, with a kill-em-all approach that seemed a bad stereotype. I was very disappointed when the game revealed its “Save the universe” plot, moreso as it bears an uncanny resemblance to a storyline DC Comics published nearly a decade before the game was released. One of the two all-powerful beings you meet contradicts herself in her first few lines of dialogue, creating a plot hole. After this you are set on a quest that leads you into teleporting into a room where a woman is bathing, and apparently you are to enjoy being humiliated by this event. This also introduces you to the odd game mechanic of having to rock-paper-scissors for social interactions it is entirely possible for your main characters to have to R-P-S each other in arguments, where the computer acts for one of your characters. I encountered a orc. The game tries to make you feel bad if you decide to fight the monster that is resting a few dozen feet away from the mutilated bodies of the people you are to protect, all having been killed by orcs. The dialogue after the fight indicates the orc is a “citizen” instead of an orc, so maybe someone screwed up programming the game here. After an undetectable trap killed my party I gave up on this game. Learn from my mistake and do not buy.

This RPG is great fun, surpising depth
I was a bit lost in the very beginning and put the game down for a bit, but once I picked it up again I got hooked. The turn-based battles allow for surprising depth of play - you can use the environment to your advantage in various ways. Playing in turns gives you a chance to think about your next move and plan battles more than "hack & slash" real-time combat. You start with a party of two and can choose who you control. As you play, you can pick up extra party members up to a maximum of four. Eventually you might have to ask someone to leave your party, in order to add someone else! Different members of the party have different qualities so you can build your party to get the strengths you want, or need for a particular section of the game. The story gives you great freedom to explore and never gives you the feeling you're on fetch quests. The story unfolds as you are exploring, moving around, fighting enemies, and finding clues, keys, locations, and various objects. I'm looking forward to a second playthrough and seeing how different decisions will affect the development of the game.

Impressive!
Plenty costumization options, tons of features, all nicely integrated into the game, a sprinkle of humor, an engaging story, beautiful environments, diverse characters, very creative sidequests... this game is one of the best I ever played! At first I was a bit sceptical about the turn based combat, since I usually prefer real time, but it turned out to be very fun and more strategic than simple button smashing.

Divinity Is Back, & Turn-Based!
I first found out about Divine Divinity a couple years back and was like "Hey, that looks kind of like Diablo 2, I'll check it out later." When I did get around to playing the first game, I fell in love with it, the first game was basically a more complex Diablo II, in terms of some pen and paper freedom, and environments (and even some visuals), although it had less classes to work with (Only 3), though the cool thing was you could choose which gender your class was, which also changed some skills you started with. The game started out at a fair difficulty, then got brutally difficult as time went on, but as with all good RPGs, it got easier the more you understood the game, and the more you leveled up and got better gear. The game had one *huge* act, and then a second smaller point-of-no-return act, with tons and tons of sidequests, as opposed to D2's less huge 4-5 acts, and relatively small amount of sidequests. DD's world wasn't randomly generated like D2's, but what was there was huge, and interesting to explore. Well I could blab for another several paragraphs on how great DD was, but now on to this game. Original Sin is a prequel to the first game and changes gameplay from ARPG, to Turn Based RPG, and damn, it worked pretty well. Battles are relatively easy at first, but as you progress, it gets pretty hard if you don't know what you're doing, as you need to really exploit enemy weakness, as well as using environmental hazards to your advantage. This game, like the first one, also has tons of sidequests, as well as really well done Co-op, I had a blast playing with my friend on a second playthrough, at least until he got bored and quit, oh well, his lost. Original Sin's main quest is somewhat similar to the first game's (Find all the dudes to perform a ritual to ascend to Divinity) to this game's (Find all the macguffins to restore your memory, etc, etc.) Overall, Original Sin is a really good comeback from a once dormant ARPG series.
